Wide-open world to destroy is a real smash.

Why We Rated This on for Ages 12 and Up

The good stuff

  • Educational value:

    Not an issue.

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

The Hulk represents the violent tendencies that live inside every human. Indulging in "ultimate destruction" means indulging that beast.
  • Violence:

Rampant destruction of cars, buildings, people, tanks, fast food restaurants, you name it. But the violence against humans is bloodless and does not factor much into the game.
  • Sex:

A svelte female opponent is as close as this game comes to sexy.
  • Language:

    Soldiers use slight profanity.
  • Consumerism:

The Hulk is a merchandising franchise, and players earn and find Hulk comics. There is also a gallery to view vintage Hulk comics.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

This review of The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction was written by Aaron Lazenby

Parents need to know that the subtext of this series revolves around releasing repressed rage and the desire that normally reserved, rational people have to solve their problems with physical violence. The Hulk destroys everything in his path, tossing cars, battling helicopters, and swinging a club in a gruesome game of human "baseball."

Families Can Talk About

Talk to your kids about the media in their life. We have more tools and tips that can help
  • Families can talk about why such widespread, wanton destruction is fun. Is there a sense of satisfaction that comes with such unfettered destructive power? Are games like this cathartic or do they glorify the worst of human nature? Why has this character been successful for so long (Hulk is more than 40 years old)? Why is the Hulk a sympathetic character if all he does is smash stuff?

More on The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction

What’s the Story?

THE INCREDIBLE HULK ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION starts with the attempted assassination of Dr. Bruce Banner, who has hidden in the mountains to protect the world from the damage his mean temper can cause. Flushed out of hiding, Banner is forced to continue his research on the run, attempting to reverse the effects of the gamma radiation that causes his transformation into the Hulk. With the help of a fellow scientist, Banner implants instructions in his brain to direct the Hulk to accomplish tasks that support his experiments. But along the way Banner uncovers a secret plot to destroy the Hulk and quietly implement martial law to serve secret, sinister goals.

Players control the Hulk on his missions, leaping across rooftops in the sprawling city or dashing through the desert to gather materials. Along the way, Hulk uses an impressive array of attack moves to battle rocket-launching soldiers, tanks, helicopters, and robotic Hulkbusters.

Is It Any Good?

Parents may have trouble stomaching the scale of devastation their kids can wreak in the game. Innocent pedestrians are killed by Hulk's mere walking, while more grisly violence can be exacted with some effort (like holding a person in one fist while pummeling him with the other). Explosions are massive (and impressive) with much collateral damage. The only consolation is that the game features no blood.

But this a polished product: The city and buildings have amazing detail, with distinct neighborhoods, unique architecture, meticulous texture and features. Players will enjoy exploring the wide-open world and playing with some of the Hulk's powers: jumping across the city without touching the ground, stacking cars on top of a building, or swinging a club in a gruesome game of human "baseball." Players will quickly master the basic controls, but dozens of special moves may require some time to master.

    • My concerns are:
    • Excessive violence
    • My highlights are:
    • Easy to play

its the perfect hulk game but not suitable fpr younger kids

well i bought this a couple years after it came out and it proved to be an extremely fun game, but it just bothered me how you could brutally kill humans, i mean i thought it was funny how you could pat them on the head and BOOM!!!! you could smash them right where they stand. i loved the game though, i mean what is cooler than soaring through the air at high speeds as the incredible hulk???? i think its one of those superhero games that are the best around to get, but i would not, NOT reccomend this for young kids at all.

This game is one of the best T rated games ever made besides guitar hero! If you like to smash stuff but you never can in real life try this game because you can smash all you want. I worn you though this game gets harder and harder. You just have to work at it and you will get it.So go buy the game.

I rate this title pause for age 0 and give it 5.0

One of the best superhero games so far.

Wow, high graphics. Now this comes from a site who praises the Playstation and said Halo 2 had so-so graphics. How about you stop favorism and reviewing 90% PS2 games and giving them too much credit. Example, God of War having an educational value? Now back to the game, the Hulk has comic books galore to collect. Now I would think that would be sarcasm/just a tad/sarcasm more commercialism than educational.
