This is a great Batman movie, and very entertaining. There's a little bit of violence (punching, gun-shooting, some explosion), but nothing graphic. Only two people die, and it is implied on both of them. Batman is a good role model, except for when he's a little bit harsh on villains. There's one partial nudity scene, but it's fairly mild. The worst part is there's quite a bit of swearing, some of it bad. But kids under 10 will be very scared of the Scarecrow villain, who uses fear toxin and a scary leather mask to make people scream. They also show what people imagine as they see him, which is often quite frightening (fire-breathing, bugs crawling out of his mouth, etc.). So except for some mild violence, language, and frightening scenes, it's great.

What Parents Need to Know
This review of Batman Begins was written by Cynthia Fuchs
Parents need to know that this movie features hard and fast violence, martial arts and shootings conveyed through dark, abrupt, sometimes scary imagery. Less cartoonish than the Spiderman and X-Men movies, these scenes are loud and rough. The caped crusader's origin story includes the murders of his parents, his ensuing depression and attempt to shoot the shooter, martial arts training and fighting, frightening subjective images brought on by hallucinogenic drugs, brief debauchery (drinking, smoking, and swimming-in-a-hotel-fountain with vacuous starlet-types), an even briefer kiss with his romantic interest, a faux drunken speech, and some raucous driving in a seriously armored Batmobile.
Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about Bruce Wayne's relationships with various father figures, including his biological father (who is murdered), his martial arts trainer, his butler, and his gadgets-maker. They might also consider the distinction the film sets up between vengeance and justice. How does Bruce put his anger to use for the "public good"? How does the film differentiate between "good" and "bad" uses of violence?
More on Batman Begins
What’s the Story?
Traumatized by the murder of his parents when he was a child, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) loses his way. When tempted to assassinate the man responsible, Bruce instead watches as someone else guns down his parents' killer. Wayne then disappears for several years. When others try to recruit Wayne to join them in destroying Gotham City, in order to destroy its evil, Wayne instead returns to fight for her and rid her of the evil within. He enlists the help of butler Alfred (Michael Caine) and Wayne Enterprises gadgets-maker Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) in order to create the "image" of Batman. Intended to intimidate villains, the new hero wears an elaborate Bat-costume and drives a frankly awesome Batmobile, a futuristic all-terrain military vehicle painted bat-black and capable of all manner of vehicular acrobatics.
Is It Any Good?
A meditation on the different motivations for violence, BATMAN BEGINS is smart and entertaining, with some harsh action scenes. Bruce is full of grit and fury, a well as grim arrogance and a sense of comedy.
Self-righteous, flagrantly emotional as well as coldly rational, Batman's sense of mission aligns him with last good cop Lt. Gordon (Gary Oldman). It also means his methods aren't always so distinct from the criminals', but he is effective, as deterrent and as what Gordon calls "escalation." Both villains and Batman can only do more.

best superhero movie I've ever seen; great for tweens.
This movie is the best batman movie I've ever seen. I saw it when I was 11; but it's a little too scary for kids under 12.

Definitely a little rough for younger kids. There is one scene where batman is having a hallucination, and he "sees" bugs crawling out of another man's face. Similar hallucinations are found throughout the film. This film is much darker than its predecessors, but it makes it more of what DC comics seemed to want it to be. one of my favorite movies ever, but definitely not for younger kids. It's rated PG-13 for a reason, you know.

Teens
This is a great movie, but it contains extreme action, violence, and disturbing images associated with hallucinogenic drug effects.

Definitely not a children's movie
While I like this movie, I have to say that it is indeed very violent, with some rather intense martial arts scenes and shootings, and disturbing scenes with one of the villians, Scarecrow. I thought that the movie was well acted and well planned out, though it was a good deal darker and harsher than a lot of other superhero movies.

GREAT!!
This was almost as good as the 2nd batman but definitely not as violent. I thought it was a lot scarier than the 2nd one, even with the joker!! Scarecrow is TERRIFYING but nothing a mature 11 year old can't handle. More complicated however and it is harder to see the close u violent parts of the movie.

It was defiantly the best batman movie before the Dark Knight.
