What is the process after an application is submitted?

The following is our process when recruiting and hiring new team members: :  

Applications are collected in the jobs inbox – please note we cannot respond to every application.

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates.
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of in-person interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

Education Product Manager

We are seeking an Education Product Manager to assist with the development of Common Sense Media’s education-based products at and In this fun, rewarding, and fast-paced role you will create detailed product requirements for new features and functionality, use analytics and user research to guide decisions on product features and user experience changes, and work in an Agile environment with our in-house Engineering team to turn ideas into reality. This position will be based in our San Francisco office.

Senior Editor, Video Games

We are currently seeking a talented, experienced, full-time Senior Editor, Video Games to oversee production and quality of consumer-facing ratings and reviews of video games. This position will liaise with other editors and manage a team of reviewers to rate and review video games for age appropriateness, entertainment value, learning potential, and overall quality, aimed at a parent audience.

Senior SEO/SEM Consultant

We are looking for a 25 hour/month Senior SEO Consultant to help us continue to keep our websites at the top of organic search results, help us implement tagging, suggest new initiatives to improve rankings, and keep us abreast of the latest developments in the field. 

Drupal Developer

Common Sense Media has an opportunity for an experienced Drupal developer at a competitive salary. You would join a team of 7 Drupal developers and report directly to the CTO who also heads the 8-member Product/creative team.

West Virginia Education Manager

We are currently seeking a full-time, two-year contract position for a West Virginia Education Manager to develop and manage strategic outreach collaborations with the state Department of Education, statewide educational organizations/associations, and key school districts in West Virginia. This position will also provide limited support to expand our efforts in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The primary objective of the Education Manager is to introduce Common Sense Media’s free resources to educators and help them learn how to best guide students (and their parents) in harnessing the full potential of technology for learning. The Education Manager will also provide professional development to teachers and administrators, pilot new educational resources, and evaluate the impact of programming.

UI Designer

Common Sense Media, a non-profit organization for children and families, is seeking a talented, enthusiastic and experienced UI Designer to create amazing user experiences for our websites ( and and mobile apps.

Development Internship

Opportunities are available year-round for interns to work on a wide variety of exciting projects, including special event planning and production, writing & design of power point presentations and marketing materials, donor research and data management. This is an incredible opportunity for multi-capable and energetic candidates with strong interpersonal and communications skills to learn about nonprofit fundraising from an experienced team of professionals. Flexible hours/work schedule.  

Communications Internship

The Communications department intern will be responsible for assisting the Communications department with general media relations duties and short-term administrative projects, and will function as part of a corporate-level communications team focusing on national press outreach. The intern will work 16-24 hours a week and will report to the Communications Coordinator.
