Statement from Common Sense Media CEO James Steyer on Google’s Privacy Changes
For immediate release

San Francisco -- Today, Common Sense Media CEO James Steyer issued the following statement regarding Google’s announcement that it will track users across e-mail, search, and other services:

“Google's new privacy announcement is frustrating and a little frightening. Even if the company believes that tracking users across all platforms improves their services, consumers should still have the option to OPT OUT – especially the kids and teens who are avid users of YouTube, Gmail and Google Search. Indeed, the industry standard should be OPT IN, so that we can protect our privacy as we see fit. Unfortunately, if Google users really care about online privacy, it looks like their only option is to move to Europe.”
