More than a decade ago, educators recognized an urgent need to teach their students 21st century skills. From the first moment, the challenges were huge. Committed teachers lacked specialized training and tools. Busy classroom schedules left little time, and dwindling budgets couldn’t support new initiatives. The kids? They’ve charged ahead into a digital world full of creative opportunities, ethical dilemmas, and cyber-risks that were unimaginable just a few years ago.
Now, more than 20,000 schools address all of those issues head on with our Common Sense Media Digital Literacy and Citizenship Programs. Our comprehensive, research-based curriculum takes a grounded approach to the fastest-changing subject anyone has ever been asked to teach. With virtually no training and complete flexibility, educators deliver deeper learning that guides children to make smart, safe decisions and to live respectful digital lives.
We have also eliminated all funding issues for educators. Our programs are completely free to every school or organization that wants to use them, thanks to the incredible generosity of our funding partners.
We believe that digital literacy is a baseline requirement of education today, and together we make certain that every school can provide it.
