What is the process after an application is submitted?

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates. (Please note we cannot respond to every application.)
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person or virtual interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

Media Reviewer, Podcasts (Contractor)

The equity-focused podcast reviewer will use their subject-matter expertise to consume, evaluate, and write about entertainment content for parents through the lenses of child development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). With excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, this contract role will produce anywhere from one to 10 new podcast reviews per month. Spanish Language Editor

We are seeking a versatile Spanish Language Editor to oversee the production of original and translated Spanish-language media reviews across Common Sense Media's multiple media "channels" (movies, TV shows, books, games, apps, podcasts, etc.), with a particular focus on movies and TV shows. The Spanish Language Editor will use their expertise and understanding of our mission to curate and recommend gold-standard media content for kids and families to help meet business partner deliverables and ensure a robust curation library. Other duties may include creating and contributing to curated lists, updating existing reviews (with particular attention to DEI issues/content), and managing freelance writers. All work is done with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); child development and media; and digital literacy.
