What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Eddy's Number Party! HD is a counting game that asks kids to help make Eddy the dog's birthday party a special one. As kids count fingers, balloons, dots, and dog barks, they're helping bring friends and balloons to Eddy's party. Then they have to match numbers with collections of dots and play a memory-style game to bring the presents. It's a bit silly, but fun, and the difficulty progresses as the party moves closer to the birthday pup. As a reward, kids are given "stickers" that they can then use to create their own party scenes. A detailed parent guide is accessible from the main menu (be prepared to solve a math problem to gain access), and it talks about the skills used in each level of the game. Parents can also see their child's progress through a particular set of skills. The game provides tips for reinforcing the skills through real-world play.

Is It Any Good?
EDDY'S NUMBER PARTY! HD is a great app for preschoolers. The activities are both age-appropriate and appealing for the intended audience. Kids will want to make sure that cute little Eddy has the best birthday ever. The game start simple, but preschool parents shouldn't be fooled. It's one thing to count to five, but it's another to have to match the number five with a set of five dots in a memory game. The idea isn't just to have kids be able to identify numbers, but to quickly understand when four of an object represents the number four. The game uses 10-frames as well, which parents of kindergartners and early elementary students will be quite familiar with. The game has a nice selection of activities and learning, all while keeping close to the central theme. Kids will love learning while preparing for the big party, and the sticker book aspect increases the replay value. The parent guide is an added bonus and a great tool for parents who are trying to prep their little ones for kindergarten.
