Parents need to know that Flipd - Keep Focused is a productivity app that promotes wellness by offering users mindfulness resources and a tool to track time spent in their area of focus. Flipd - Keep Focused allows users to choose or create a category -- like work, sleep, or study -- and then track "time well spent." The full lock mode hides social media, games, and downloadable apps, and blocks notifications for the selected amount of time. Under full lock mode, kids will still be able to access phone, text, and email, but other apps that may pose a distraction are hidden. Through the app's communities, kids can connect with other people who are also on a quest for greater productivity and focus. Groups have a focus and general meeting time, and log their "time well spent" as a way to motivate others who share in the experience. The community feature allows kids to spend time "Flipd off," meaning they're tracking time spent on task, but it doesn't have a chat or messaging feature; there isn't a direct communication component. Under the wellness hub, kids will be able to access a collection of resources that include therapeutic sounds, music for the mind, breathing techniques, sleep stories, pep talks, guided meditations, and podcasts. What’s It About?
FLIPD - KEEP FOCUSED is designed to promote productivity and wellness. The app has three distinct components: the "Flipd off" time tracker, the community groups, and the wellness hub. The app offers some categories, like study, sleep, work, or Flipd 180, and suggests goal time for each. Users can also create their own category. Select a category and track time spent on task. Tapping on the "break" button pauses the session, and the X on the top left corner ends the session. The tool allows kids to track "time well spent." Through the community groups, kids can connect and unplug with others who are working toward similar goals. There are several study groups, each with a specific focus. The creator of the group determines the focus and meeting times. Members are able to compete with others in the group; spending more time "Flipd off" and on task moves members of the group up in rank. The wellness hub gives users access to a collection of over 30 mindfulness resources, including therapeutic sounds, guided meditations, podcasts, and pep talks. The personal profile houses the app's settings, but also offers links to perks and exclusive discounts to a variety of merchants in addition to blogs about productivity, education, and guides on using the app. There's a messaging feature that allows users to connect directly with Flipd - Keep Focused for help, support, and a list of tips.

It's a handy tool for those looking for motivation to lock away distracting apps on their device and support tracking their time unplugged. Parents might also find Flipd - Keep Focused to be handy in helping kids balance or restrict time spent using their device for entertainment since the full lockdown feature locks access to social media and other apps for the time set by the user. The full lockdown feature limits social media and apps while still allowing kids to use text, phone, and email to communicate with friends and family.
Kids will find competing with other productivity-minded folk fun and motivating. Although it's an option to join groups with members you don't know, kids can create their own community group and invite friends to spend time unplugged and focused on their school work. They'll be able to see how much "time well spent" they're racking up compared to friends. Knowing who's in the group and seeing their rank may be more motivating than competing with strangers or joining a large group where they rank in the hundreds or thousands right off the bat.
