What’s It About?
The main screen on Fun Math Tricks lists the 25 math tricks. Tap on the trick you want to learn, and a new screen opens that contains the lesson in clear steps, with examples, followed by a few practice problems. Kids enter the answer and tap "Check" to find out if they answered correctly. Select "Play Challenge" on the main screen to play one of two timed challenge games. As the time counts down, kids solve problems. If they run out of time, a box with "Wrong!" and the answer pops up along with the option to go back to the trick or onto the next problem.
Is It Any Good?
There aren't any bells and whistles on FUN MATH TRICKS, but it makes it easy for kids to learn some amazing mental math secrets. This app is sure to frustrate kids who don't already know their multiplication table, square roots, and other mid-level math skills. But for tweens and teens who have already mastered those, this app will help boost math confidence, performance, and maybe even test scores, too.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
If your kid is learning a specific skill in math, such as working with square numbers, show them the mental math tricks on this app to offer a new way to approach problems.
Offer this app to teens who are preparing for the SAT or ACT tests. The tricks and timed challenges may help them gain time on the math portions of the test.
