perfect for adults teens, and unusuallly mature tweens, a bit too violent and deep for younger children or sensitive tweens.
War from a futuristic, child's point of view. Read the other books in the series as well to get a very interesting multi dimensional perspective about war and fear of "the other". the Bean series is also interesting, but gets a bit wrapped up in politics in the second book. My 9 year old "philosopher" son loved it, but I doubt many others his age would.

Best science fiction author, older teens only
Several disturbing scenes that would not be appropriate for anyone under 13 at least. Frequent swearing and rude language; frequent mention of the children being naked, once male and female in the same dorm. Behavior by adults in the book (there are few, and mostly minor characters) toward the children would be considered abusive in our society. Although, this is ncessary to the premise of the book. Overall, a highly enjoyable book. My teen and I both read it and had great discussions afterward.

Best Sci-Fi book I have ever read
I am a junior in high school, and I have read the novel, Ender's Game as a class assignment. I believe I am more than qualified to comment on the novel, because of the simplistic fact that I read it. The book itself has a very interesting story, and has been known to be called a "page turner." But, there are some things I don't like in the plot, such as, I found that all of the human race putting their lives on the line, and in the control of a ten-year-old boy is a bit far-fetched, but overall, it would say it was a good book. I also believe that the pacing of the story is a little off, because they spend almost the entire book covering what happens in the battle school, building up Ender as a commander, but then he's only a commander for a few short battles at the end of the book. I also believe for the time they spent building up the World War, it ended rather abruptly, and seemed as though they got tired of writing about it and quickly made up a quick ending. However, I did like the way that at the beginning of each chapter there were two anonymous government officials foreshadowing the plot, because it keeps you guessing as to who they were and how it would ultimately tie into the story. I think everyone has a connection to the novel, because it delves into the controversial questions such as the colonization of planets, and the possibilities of future World Wars. Card uses foreshadowing, plot twists , and back-stories throughout the novel to keep his readers interested. I think because there is a sort of sense of child dominance, that the younger generations would more often enjoy this book as opposed to older generations.

excellent
This book has it all. It is a great breakthrough from young adult literature to a more adult world. The characters can be related to through a young adults age, the story is a smooth transition into a mature sence of looking at the world around them.

A book about children written for adults.
ENDER'S GAME is written from the character of Ender Wiggin’s point of view. The story is about the future in which aliens called Buggers have attacked Earth. Luckily, the Earth has won the First and Second Bugger Invasions, but the Third one will probably be the most difficult. Therefore the International Fleet, "... the only military [force] that meant anything anymore ..." has recruited genius children to go to Battle School in outer space and save the planet (Ender’s Game 17). The most intelligent of these children are Ender and Bean. One of the strongest criticisms of ENDER'S GAME is that in reality "... children don’t actually think or speak the way the children in [the Ender novels] think and speak" (Ender’s Game xix). I happen to agree with this assessment. The cognitive abilities of the children in the HARRY POTTER books were more grounded in reality than the cognitive abilities of the children in the ENDER'S GAME. That was one of the reasons the story worked so well. The children in Card’s Battle School talk and think more like adults. This is a suspension of disbelief that may not be acceptable to most people.

Not for kids as much
I do love this book. Its one of my favorites. Yet, i would not recommend it to kids under 13. It's pretty violent at times and the language can get iffy. I would recommend it for adults because that is what it was written for.

Perfect for ages 12+ but for younger kids...
This book is AMAZING! It has an incredible plot, the characters are great, and the writing allows you to fully understand the character's point of view. Ender's Game is ***** NO QUESTION ABOUT IT! but there ARE some...inappropriate things for kids who aren't in middle school yet. I think that the language is pretty common, but kids shouldn't read it 2 often. The kids in the book have a bit of a nasty sense of humor, so kids who aren't in middle school should NOT read this book yet. Another reason is, some of the content in this book is a bit HARD to understand and comprehend. so kids might not be mature enough to apreciate the plot and characters. This book is great! ages 12+ should DEFINITELY read this! Ender is a role model, and so is Orson Scott Card. REad it!
- I rate this title iffy for age 10 and give it
Good for kids 10+
It had some nudity, but nothing major. Some foul language, and some gruesome scenes, but nothing a 10+ kid couldn't handle. The second one is worse

stunning
This book stuns. It really does. And you can read it over and over. It evolved from the idea of the battle room to a short story to a novel that was really only a prelude for the book Card really wanted to write- the next in the series, Speaker for the Dead. But this book is great, really great, and should be read by everyone as soon as they are old enough to appreciate it. It's brilliant.

It's a great read. I also recommend Evil Genius (by Catherine Jinks) if you liked this.

Must read for every sci-fi fan!
One great book! Immersive details, a twisting plot line, and plenty of action to top it all off. Andrew or "Ender" Wiggin was selected at a young age to be trained for the I.F. (International Fleet) to be a brilliant starship stratigist. The story is of his stuggles through battle school, command school, the formation of his friends and enemies. A TRULY IMMERSIVE BOOK!

Children are led by adults to commit genocide Language: Minor Social Behavior: Many characters are ruthless and aggressive. mature 10-11 average 12+ squeamish 13-14

Best Book in the World!!
The beginning pages were somewhat confusing with two random people(at the start)conversing but then you learn who they are and the story picks up and you become really interested. The violence isn't bad, it fits with the story. You might find yourself crying when Ender(the main character) suffers. It's written well and you will definitely reread it.

AN AWESOME BOOK IF YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ender's Game is one of my favorite books. There is a slight issue with violence in children, but it is all instigated by the teachers/adults, who should have stepped in, but wanted Ender to take care of himself. There is no issue with sex, the book is simply set in the future with young genius children, who don't really care about that sort of thing. The only reason why younger children shouldn't read it is that they might have trouble understanding some of the content. It is about genius 8 year olds, so some of the vocabulary is beyond that of a child. I do know that many of the people in my class would have trouble reading this for that reason.

there is only one word to describe this book: amazing. but for ages 11+

I love this book!!! You must read it!!!
When I picked it up, I must admit that I was a little uneasy. The cover was cheesy-looking, and it started with a long-winded introduction. But then, I started to read. I was blown away by the power and depth of the writing. I felt myself caring about Ender, loving him even. This book was so sad, but so well written and enthralling. An excellent read.

A truly great Sci-fi novel...
Ender's Game is a masterful work, combining today's problems with tomorrow's solutions. Because of the tough topics, violence, and some disturbing ideas, I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone under 12. This book portrays the government, military, and our culture in bold new ways, and shows that children can make a difference. Ender's Game will become a classic for a long, long time.

Ender's Game is the greatest! Quite harsh though. I cannot figure out why the back of my copy says "for ages 10 and up". It's at least for 13 and up.

I would keep away from this book.
I had a very bad experience reading this book. I am very disapointed that an author would put so much gross stuff in one book. It made me feel dirty to read it, and I wouldn't have except that it was a class assignment. I think that parents should defenitely keep kids away from this book it is violent, has a lot of nudity, dirty language, horrifying social behavoir, and other things that I will not mention in case kids are reading this. This book made me uncomfortable to read and planted dirty thoughts in my mind. KEEP AWAY FROM IT.
