What Parents Need to Know

About Classic Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask

Parents need to know that the scares in this book won't be too much for most tweens. A classic creepy guy in costume shop has some gross masks, and suspense is of the "who's in that costume?" and "what's chasing me?" variety. More frightening is when a character realizes she's falling under the control of an evil presence.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about teasing and revenge. Why did Carly want revenge against her friends? What did she learn about trying to "pay back" others who had hurt her? Have you ever wanted to get back at someone who teased you?

    Good, but not great.

I did like this book, but I disagree that it is one of the best. It is good, however, and kids who like horror stories will love this one.
