    One of the best!..

I Loved this book! The only concerns would be the violence of the book, which hardly ever becomes graphic. You just need to be aware of what you child can handle. It may be a little long for anyone youger than twelve.

    WOW

A great book for anyone of any age. However, more importantly the message of being willing to face your fears really hits home. I LOVED IT!

    A wonderful classic!

Better and more easily read than The Lord of the Rings trilogy! This is a must for EVERY home and bookcase!

I read this in the second grade....and fell in love with it.

Even though I have read it many times, this is still one of my favorite books. I like how the old-time-ish atmosphere mixes with the pace of the story. The poems, songs, and riddles in this book I have practically memorized. A fast-paced, exciting book about a small man with big accomplishments. ~~~So tra-la-la-lally, way down through the vallley, come on....~~~

    Excellent!

I read it in school, and I enjoyed it! I have two copies of the book, and one belongs to my entire family, and the other belongs to me.

The best book I have ever read!

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien is the best book I have ever read. This book is about a hobbit named Biblo. He goes on an adventure with Thorin and company (13 dwarves). On there adventure they encounter all sorts of creatures. They battle goblins and wolves, get captured by giant spiders and wood elves, they almost get eaten by trolls and go on so many other adventures! Along the way they get some help from dwarves, lake people, eagles, shape-shifters, and many other people! This is an amazing, suspensful book and I can't wait to read the Lord of the Rings! --- Kathleen- A girl scout-------

    OMGOODNESS - SOOOOOO BORING!

I practically died trying to read this book for school. J.R.R.Tolkein taks like ten pages to describe a tree. The action would be okay if he hadn't written it, but he totally makes you want to fall asleep! If you don't mind a slow plot, go for this book!

The Hobbit is a really good book.

I am reading The Fellowship of the Ring now, and I think you should probably get the whole Lord of the Rings series because that is the series after the Hobbit. The Fellowship of the Ring is the first book.

    i love this book!!!!

this book is soo exiting in detail and wonderful. and it does not get too graphic.I didn't notice anything bad in it! It begins were Bilbo [a hobbit]who has never had any adventures outside the Shire,is convinced to go on an adventure with Gandalf [a wizard] and 12 dwarves to retrieve a treasure protected by a dragon. u should def read it!

    the essential Hobbit

The Hobbit, aside from being extremely well written, really helped me get the story behind The Lord of the Rings. Had I read Lord of the Rings without having read the Hobbit there would be lots of things that I would be confused about. The Hobbit is a book that I completely recommend for kids my age.

    What A Book!!!!

What a book alot of people would say I personally thought myself that alot of parts in the story was very boaring!!! The only parts of the book i thought was intresting was the big things just like the dragon part or when bilbo esapes the scary cave. But the thing i thought was weird was how JRR Tolkien usd other languages or ununderstanding words, and how one thing acarried of for like 10 chapters i though that was just a lil weird!!! -kourttnii

    A must read

The book is really great. I had a fun time reading it because you get so caught up in the story and wonder what will happen to poor Bilbo next! I read Lord of the Rings and thought that I should read this and was glad that I did. I wondered why I hadn't read it sooner!
