My son is reading this series in kindergarten, and he just said, "dumb dog" for the first time. He said Junie B Jones says, "dumb". Not pleased that he is learning bad words from a book his kindergarten teacher is reading to him!

selling all our Junie B books
While the book was written in a way for young children to read easily, the content was rather disturbing to me. I read the first chapter with my 7 year old daughter, and i was shocked to say the least, with the language and back talking that Junie B uses. I will be selling all of our junie b books, because i would rather my daughter read books with less attitude.

Awful
I am left of the left when it comes to most anything in this world. And, I eagerly encourage my children to read and love books. HOWEVER, Junie B. Jones is the closest I've ever gotten to banning a book in our house. The grammar/language is just horrible and the stories of misbehavior are way too numerous and validates, for a preschooler, rude behavior.

Not for children who are impressionable/highly dramatic
Junie is a handful. If your child is 'spirited,' impressionable and/or highly dramatic and she reads this book, soon you will have a handful on your hands, too. I know several mothers who have banned these books from their house because their dramatic girls suddenly think it's great to sock their little brothers and to back-talk like mad. In short, there are so many wonderful children's books out there, why bother with this one?

The grammar is horrible!
I'm not sure how this is considered a good beginning chapter book for young readers. Junie drives me CRAZY because the books are full of incorrect spellings and terrible grammar. These mistakes are never labeled for the kids, like in a discussion with a parent or teacher. Instead they are there just for humor. Unfortunately, early readers don't know the difference and it causes problems in their other reading and writing book. For this reason alone, this series is not recommended.

Teaches poor grammer and ways to become a brat!
Alright, I am a reader, very big reader in fact. I've read to all four of my children since they were born, and they all love books. My two older ones who are five and six read Harry Potter, Oliver Twist and other chapter books that are both new and old to us readers. They read frequently for fun and devour books faster than I can keep buying. When their peers suggested this series I went out and got many books, after all what harm can a book do? Well, it's a waste of money; the child and language in this book are horrible. I've read a couple to make sure the author didn't change her mind and actually give the main character a brain, common sense, and possibly a bit of respect, but sadly she didn’t see the need I suppose. The character is a brat, stays a brat through every book I've read. The Grammar in the book is the worse! The author uses words like bestest, and words like hanged up the phone, instead of hung, the children speak worse than my two year old in this book, seriously. Why should a parent have to worry about their children picking up such poor habits from a children’s book? I wouldn’t give any of Barbara Park’s books even 1 star, due to poor language, and the fact that the main character is such a brat.

We tripped into the Junie B. Jones series through the Scholastic Book Fair ... and I'm so glad we did. The kids (ages 5 and 7) just love her crazy antics and expressions, and I'm amused too. These books have been great as bedtime stories, reading a chapter each night--that's also great to test the kids' retention as I ask them what happened last chapter, last night. Each book is about 7-8 chapters, so we've been reading a book a week, basically. We also like to take Junie B. on road trips. I read the entire book while hubby drives, and we all get giggles and funny things to bring up later--like inside jokes for the whole family. (I've also found Junie B. books on tape at the library--that's a great travel tool, especially if it's a trip w/ just Mom or Dad and we're not able to read the books.) I highly recommend all Junie B. books. She's a good-natured, spunky little girl. Kids can relate to her and are amused by her.

BAD BOOK
I just read the first few pages of the book and I felt as if I wanted to shoot myself. No kidding. I was shocked when I read that she called her friend dumb bunny and other words like heck and just the way she acts. I couldn't even read the rest of the book. In my opinion I think that kids will learn these behaviors and start acting like a rotten brat such as this Junie B. Jones. Terrible book.

I did not like this book.
I really somewhat think kids 11 and 12 cannot read this book.I think it is too simple and easy to read.
