KIPPER'S BEDTIME, one title in a series of puzzle books about the exuberant puppy's daily life, is specifically designed for toddlers. Brief sentences follow a simple Q&A format, which prompts readers, encouraging them to find the correct piece: "Kipper is getting ready for bed. Where is his favorite toy?" Toddlers readily identify with Kipper's bedtime ritual, which includes favorite childhood activities and objects.
Bright colors and clean lines dominate the uncomplicated drawings. The illustrations portray Kipper cheerfully ambling through his bedtime routine--inspiring recalcitrant sleepers to join in and get ready for bed.
One pair of three-year-olds found the interactive portion of the book highly appealing and eagerly searched for the lost items. The sturdy puzzle pieces are easy to handle, while the one-of-a-kind openings guarantee a perfect fit for the correct piece only. Of course, children young enough to put the pieces in their mouths should not handle them unsupervised. This is a cozy, interactive tale to help little ones make the transition to their own evening routines.
Kipper's Bathtime, also by Inkpen, features tub-time play with press-out pieces.
From The Book
In one illustration, all snuggled up in a wicker basket with his stuffed animals tucked in around him, Kipper gazes out the window at the starry, moonlit sky before drifting off to sleep.
Plot Summary:
It's bedtime, and Kipper can't find his favorite toy! Readers must help the playful pup locate the missing items before he can settle down for the night. Oversize puzzle pieces that fit into brightly colored pages are just right for little hands.
