Great to read and discuss.
I'm glad that I read this book to my son instead of letting him read it by himself when he got older. Lots of mean behaviors that you wouldn't want your child to imitate.

One of the best!
I enjoyed the book more than anything. It was really nice. I was fascinated when I found out that Matilda could read such big books when she was so young at age. I wish I was that lucky. About her family I will say that they are the worst. I don't want parents like them. I don't think that only a cook book is needed for a house. About the principle Trunchbull I would like to say that it is the most APPROPRIATE name for her! I really hate the annoying fat lady! As for Ms.Honey, I wish I had a sister just like her. I mean as good and kind at heart. I was really sad when I found out that she had no home and things like that about her sad life. This is a TERRIFIC read! C'mon. What are you waiting for? Get it. Read it!

MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a very, very good book for small kids who are bored. Matilda, I think, is a perfect person but her parents think she has the worst qualities in the world. I also think Mrs. Trunchbull is really, really, REALLY mean. She slung a girl around by her pigtails because she didn't like the pigtails. She also made a boy eat a ginormous chocolate cake. Matilda got her friend in trouble even though she didn't mean to. She has magical eye powers. Her teacher, Ms. Honey, wasn't overwhelmed enough even though she was very carried away. Matilda lived happily ever after with Ms. Honey. And her parents moved to Spain because her father sold rotten second-hand cars.

Great For 6-10 Year Olds
I remember reading this book as a school assigment. Very interesting and creative. When the power that comes out of Matilda's eyes is explained, it seems very realistic. Won't interest older readers.

a must-read-NOW book
I really liked this book. It starts out with a girl whos parents don't love her as much as her older brother. Then, she goes to school and meets Mrs. Trumbelle. Mathilda goes to the school with a bad reputation, but only because her father sold a car to Mrs. Trumbelle. A very good book with and excellent ending.

I liked the book
I really like the book Matilda, it's nice to read it. This book is about a girl named Matilda. She's not just a girl, she is very clever. She goes to school, but there is a scary Headmistress, named Miss Trunchbull. Everyone is afraid of her. Then she figures out a plan to get Miss Trunchbull out of the school.. I really liked the book, it was very nice.

An entertaining book but...
OK. i will say that it is clever. i have problems w/ it tho. first, her parents ahve no love and no morals. the father is a crooked used car salesman and the mother could care less. the brother is a twit. and all the adults, save miss honey, are unsensitive, stupid, and just plain lame. the headmistress throws children through the air by their hair, lifts them up by their ears, and locks in cupboards full of spikes, to name a few. matilda is a genius, and 'keeps her sanity' by running circles around every adult she chooses. and there is a large role of telekinesis. otherwise, it stresses the role of friendship, intelligence, and justice. matilda has a best friend who sticks through the whole book. amazing. great read for 4-5 grades, because they will understand all the little intricacies of roald dahl.
