I wanted more!
Messenger held my interest and provided great imagery and originality, but left many questions unanswered. There were many obstacles for Matty and Kira on their journey, and the use of their gifts were very creative. It ended abruptly after three very intense and violent chapters. I would recommend it for a mature preteen, but not a child. It would be helpful to read The giver first, but it is not completely necessary.

- Excessive violence

The Messenger is one of the best books our teacher assigned us to read. It was for our 2nd year english class. It had a good story, though not as good as "The Giver", but it was less controversial and more appropriate for kids than "The Giver". It was kinda sad when the major character (no spoilers) had a terrible incident, but other than that it was a joy to read. 4 stars

Confusing
I didn't really like this book because I felt like there was no point in writing it. It was very boring, and the plot was confusing. I think that there were too many things going on at once. Unless you like sad, frustrating books, don't read it.

I absolute LOVED the book. I really liked how the series ends. It leaves you with some questions but i personally like that. Then you can decide what happens after that. I thought this book was just as good as The Giver. This book really tied everything together at the end of the series.

It was a very good book, i'd recommend it for any child willing to read it.
I think it was a very very very very good book. The part were Matty dies was having me crying in my couch. I think if Kira would have waited and had her leg fixed, they would have probaly survived.

You will cry reading this book. Do not read this unless you have read the book
First, this book was amazing and a great conclusion to the trilogy. The antagonist, Matty and Kira are dying in the forest. Leader (Jonas) was near them searching though very weak. From what I read it seems that Matty, who could heal beyond dug his hand into the ground and healed the forest. This saved leader and Kira. I'm thinking when they return to the village the people of the village would change and allow injured people to enter the Village. Kira told leader that Matty had wanted the name of messanger. The leader said no. He would be named healer

I cried tears of reality
Some people would say this book is "Meaningful, but... I don't get it." Others would say,"Sure, it's good..." and leave it at that. To me, this book is the imaginitive reality of the world. Everybody has a certain job, placement, character in this world. Although none of us have a special superhuman talent, we all have gifts; we can all do at least one thing better than somebody else. MESSENGER is another MUST read on my list of novels, as is THE GIVER and many, many other stories. I would recommend the series to all middle schools if I was old enough, and definitely will when I can. Please, please please read this book and the books before it, I am positive you will have a similar reaction.

A Required Reading Book For All Midle Schools
This book took you on an emotional rolar coaster ride with the turns and twists that created an effective plot. As the third book in the series, I thought that it excelled as an ending to the story line. This book is a fine piece of literature that all ages can enjoy.

I enjoyed reading this mook very much. Lois Lowry is a wonderful author, so that made the story even better. There is a lot of description of the surrounds and the characters feelings and situations. I definitely reccommend this book to kids my age.
