a perfect example and a must read for middle schoolers

i am reading this right now for a book report and i really like it lots of people are left behind because they are different. this book is an example of that cruelty... im havent been left out about being different, but ive seen happen to others and it is really sad. :(

i love this book because of it's message that it's ok to be different and not to judge someone by the way they look! THis book is about a girl that move to a new sdchool and is the center of a attention in everything she does, when a boy notices her but hes to scared to talk to her cause everyone dislikes her.

    Waaaaaaaa?

Kinda Iffy. Fortunately, most of it is in innuendos. A bunch of hormonic, lovesick, peer-presure relenting teenage pervs. ggaaaaauuuuugh.

    Never let anyone change you!!

I lovedd thuis book becuse, when or lose Stargirl was never afraid to be different. Even if she had terrible rumors going around the school about her, she'd never pay them the time of day. This is a lesson for all teens my age. Never let anyone change the way you are, when you decide to change that should be your decision not anyone elses.

    blown away

it's probably one of three books i've ever read where i felt like this (for the record the other two were i am the cheese by robert cormier and fahrenheit 451) im in shock literally at first i really really really didn't like it didn't like leo, didn't like stargirl, didn't like the story then i dunno the book just... closed a fist around my heart and squeezed no grabbed a corner of my heart and tugged yes that's a better description it was... awful, in a way amazing it hurt.... i hurt... i hurt for stargirl and i hurt for leo and i hurt for normality..... and for nonconformity.... and for everyone in the world who suffers, not hunger or cold but loneliness, and i hurt for the people who make them suffer because they're so stunted, so blind... and i just saw things, and it was.... i dunno. i can't really decribe it. i'm completely blown away.

    Stargirl

Oh, it was ok, but I liked the second book better, even though it ruins the mysteriousness of Stargirl. It's sad that Leo wasn't in it....

I've Never Read Anything Like It!

At first, when I got this book, I didn't have any interest whatsoever in reading it. But when I started, I just couldn't put it down. The story evolves around a and a girl named Stargirl, who is new to the school. She is nothing alike others. I'll remember this book for a long time.

Any shallow person could never understand the true message of this book

The ending made me a little sad but I loved this book because it's everything I ever went by! I have never gone by labels, or fashion, or put on one of those masks everyone wears these days and acted like the person I'm not. This book is about that. The power and will to "think outside the box". How society ditches those that are "different" and ends up hurting others. Ever wondered why that "outcast" at school acts the way she/he does? This is a perfect book for anyone who thinks they fit-in or fit-out. I discovered this book and my opinions before I discovered it were already made. Why limit yourself to just wearing black or pink? Why put on a mask and trick people into thinking you're something else? This book showed me that I wasn't the only one who though that... Oh, and by the way... Jerry Spinelli rocks!

    Excellent story and message

Before I say anything else, this is a story every girl should read. Stargirl's spirit and unwavering ability to be herself is an inspiration. Now, with that said, I wasn't completely blown away by this novel. It has a great message, but there are better books out there concerning interest and quality of writing. Still, EVERYONE who has felt snubbed because of people call them "weird" needs to read this. They need Stargirl's story.

    beautiful...

this is one of my favorite books of all time. it has sharp insight into the way teenagers are today, and into conformity. i think every teenager should read this book! there are so many things in it that make you think, and i would always wonder "why do they think shes weird?" or "why is it that a certain style is accepted by teens but if there is anything else they seem afraid of it?" a thought-provoking book. they are some sad parts that make you want to cry, but that honestly is the way teenagers are, and it would be good for them to learn a lesson like this.
