I loved this story! This story is one of my favorites when I had to read it in school. To the teachers and/or school board, this book is highly educational (especially for History), and focuses how race doesn't matter even if you criticized them from the beggining. Timitohy is a GREAT role model and helps and protects Peter even though he is blind. Peter starts off snobbish, but he becomes a better person throughout the book. It's a really inspirational story and if you believe your kids are mature enough, then you should allow them to read this book.
I have to say the book is pretty good! It can get a little hairy and racist at points. In the end it could teach kids at lesson of maturity, survival, trust, and sacrifice. Which I think kids, like me, should be comprehended about. This is coming from a guy who's 11 in the 6th grade too. lol XD
When I read this I just couldn't put it down and even after I was done reading it the story continued to race through my mind. I only rated this for ages 9+ because it probably would not interest younger kids
parents get hung up in the fantasy world. this is a story about life. ans as long as your kids dont repeat the words that they are not aloud to speak of then it is fine. at one point in time you were naked. point blank this book helps with the real world and teaches positives.
This book is boring. It is hard to read. It is about 2 a little boy who gets naked. They old man hits the little boy and leaves him alone when the boy is blind. The author has the vocabulary of a 5 year old, but has lots of violence. This is a terrible book that should never be read.
this book i really did not wanna rea at first i thought it was gonna be boring and everything else right when i read the first chapter, but that book got really really good, and its quick and a good book. lol (: just go find it in a library or book store maybe even walmart, but you need to read it. (:
wow this was an okay book. i dont even know where to start. kinda boring throughout, but it was kinda better in the end................
JUST KIDDING! AWESOME BOOK! :) :P :D
People don't look at the good things at this book... Phillip slowly grows to understand the concept and hurtful and mean things that some white men & women were treating African Americans. Its also a good example of a trust bond between the two.
I used this book in my 5th grade classroom and the students were riveted always begging for more. I love the transformation the characters go through. It has a great message for everyone.
Not a book you'd want your little child to read!!!!
I dont like it because the story uses too much violence and bad language also in the beginning Phillip is racist plus they are both naked in several ocasions i do like it because it has a good message about anti-racism
