I was a virgin to my husband when i married and he is the father of all of my children, i have never been addicted to any plant based man=made substance derived from the red poppy, white lotus or blue agave
i think it is relevant to remember a little history, british warhships forced china (after attacking the port of canton with cannonfire for weeks and blockcading the city so it could not serve as the center of foreign trade for an empire heavily dependent on trade from many nations, starving and terrifying the native populace) to import opium grown in asia for the british, they also terrorized the amish into growing hemp for them (like cotton but does not mildew in cold wet weather) used for rope, sailcloth, hammocks, warm underclothes, soft swaddling for newborns, sheets for bedding and more!
the british also terrorized surviving native americans into growing corn (moonshine) and tobacco for them, the are "the borg" "you will be assimilated~resistance is futile" there was violence and opium addiction in this world long before we were born and it will be so long after, this book may just give a young adult who is curious about opium the courage to "just say no", i think the example she sees in her own home far outweighs anything she will read/see/hear/experience in books, movies, conversations with friends or stars~
it all comes down to the mother, father, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins~is there anyone in the immediate family with an addiction? anger, alcohol, opium, gambling, shopping, incest? that is far more likely a predictor of future addiction than anything she reads, sees, hears, books/tv, movies, its time to take responsibility, mom&dad, dont let her get exposed at home!! to addiction, dont worry about books, tv, movies, friends
