alot of saddness
There were some issues with the death. If your not ready for your children to read about that then i would not let them read it. There is a swear word. The only peoblem i had was the graphic display of the way the characters were killed.

A must for Harry Potter fans!
I really enjoyed this book. It is grim and violent. But that said, there are many good messages throughout. I would be warry of letting any child in third grade and below read this book. Children in fourth grade are right on the line. If you know that your kid gets upset by death and violence, give them a year or so. This is a great set of books to get kids to read.

What an extraordinary book! [no spoilers]
I haven't been so gripped with excitement by a book for a loooong time. The climax and summation of all six books is here. A true saga, and with very, very strong love-and-selfsacrifice elements. WOW!

J.K. Rowling does it again...
Deathly Hallows was a magnificent book, full of romance, tradgedy, laughter and more. Although it was a wonderful book by itself, I have to say that it was probably the worst in the series. Roaring along from beginning to end, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will paint a picture so vivid and real in the minds of readers that they won't be able to stop reading until they reach page 759. Parents should know that this book has lots and LOTS of violence including at least 8 deaths of some major and minor characters. Children may also be very upset to see their favorite characters die. There are also a few romantic scenes between a few of the lead characters.

I felt it needed one more book!
The beginning of the book dragged a little bit. The last third of the book, however, needed much more space. I started reading book 1 to my 6 y.o. daughter and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series with her. I'm glad that the more perilous events are in later books! We have had a great time discussing how events in the book and movie are different, why they chose to do things the way they did in the movie and what was omitted in the movie to make it flow more easily. My poor husband is lost!

Best Ever
This is the best ever. Full of twists and turns. Hard to put down. I just kept wanting to read on, but after 4 days I finished.

Read Aloud with an 8 to 10 Year Old
Her plotting and pacing are awe-inspiring. She makes everything matter. But this story is dark and intimidating. 8 to 10 year olds will get it, but I recommend going beyond talking to them about it. It's so grim that reading it aloud is a must for younger children, in my opinion.

Definitely worth the wait....
I simply loved this book. It answered all of the unresolved issues and questions from earlier in the series. JKR is simply amazing. I loved how things or characters that were minor in earlier books turned out to be an integral part of the plot. The ending was wonderful.

Perfect Ending
I love the entire series and this was the perfect end! I laughed I cried and I screamed out loud. You will never guess what is coming next and that makes it so much fun. I can't wait till the final two movies come out!! For those who have never read the books, you don't know what you are missing! This is not just a kids series!!!

Emotional satisfying but very sad war story
This is such a well-paced story, I could only put it down when I had to have a good cry. After I finished, I decided to go back and read some chapters aloud to my son (10) to shepherd him through it a bit. There is really meaty stuff in there, lots to discuss, like how bigotry and racism can lead to fascism, and what happens to humanity, and what humanity is, etc. In the end, Harry is not only "The Boy Who Lived," but "The Boy Who Did Everything Right," a good role-model for a caring human being. The value of family cannot be underestimated. I rated this "on" but "know your kid" is probably better. This is very thoughtful and heavy stuff. If your kids are young, don't worry if they want to put it down... for a few years.

darkest of the set, wraps things up nicely
It sometimes seemed like JKRowling was writing with the Hollywood blow-'em-up fight scenes in mind... the battles are described in detail that left me wanting to skip ahead.

A Great (if not perfect) Ending to a Wonderful Series!
I loved this book, even if it didn't live up to all of my expectations. It started off with such a bang, I could hardly wait to get through the more than 700 pages to finally find out what would happen to our boy hero and his motley crew of wizard friends and family!

it was quiet good really. it had some (well........... maybe a lot!) of killing in it. it also has magic and sorcery which i know some families won't let their children read it. :/ but over all it is a pretty darn good book!

Good for kids 8 and up, with some mature topics.
I liked this book a lot. I read it first when I was eight. It is definitely mature for kids who aren't ready for violence, some gore, and some definitely heavy topics. Also kids who feel uncomfortable with topics like death shouldn't read it. There are at least 10 characters who die, several of which are main characters, like Lupin, Tonks, and Fred. So read it: but when you or your kids are ready for some heavier subjects.

Awesome Ending
Beware, anyone attached to the characters will shed some tears. There are lots of deaths. The way the Minstry treats Muggle-borns is a lot like the ways the Nazis treated Jews, which may be hard for some kids who know about this for take. But, all in all, it's a great book. The kids (can you call them that anymore?) would die for each other. They are smart and resourceful.

This is a really good book for most people that are 9+, but if you're not the kind of person that likes adventure with some violence and fantasy, just don't bother reading it until you are a little older. Overall, awesome book.

Disapointing
Despite the previous books being good, this one falls way too short on my list. It was long, boring, and left holes in the story. Nasty book. I thought for sure Aunt Petunia would have a more significant role in this story, reason being that she's his mother's sister. The final battle between Voldimort and Harry ended in two sentences, literally. Harry yet again acts like a distraught emo... Terrible final book.

I am simply obsessed with this book! It's my favorite out of all the Harry Potters and a breathtaking end to one of my all time favorite book series! I've read it just about 30 times and it's impossible for anyone not to love it. Everyone should read Harry Potter.

Good for 9 or 8
This book is a beautiful work of art. I think that if your kid wants to read it, it is OK as long as they don't get upset about death. Just today I carried the book with me ALL DAY.

Long years the many MANY loyal fans have awaited this... Was it worth the wait?
WAS this worth the wait? You betcha. Seven. SEVEN novels there are in this series, and the finale is everything we could have hoped for and much more. I highly reccomend this series to everyone, as this book would not be what it is if not for the rest of 'em. Moving, incredible, grim, and impressive are just a few of the many adjectives that describe this book, but more importantly this series. One of the incredible things about the books in this series that is far different from other fantasy series is that while these books are incredibly long, hardly a word is wasted. *cough* cough* Twilight, Inheritance Cycle *cough* *cough* Thanks to Joe, at this point, 9 year old kids that started this series will have long bloomed into wonderful readers, thanks to the magic of Joe Rowling. My favorite books of the series in order from least favorite to favorite: 7. The Chamber of Secrets 6. The Sorcerer's Stone 5. The Prisoner of Aszkaban 4. The Half Blood Prince 3. The Goblet of Fire 2. The Order of the Phoenix 1. The Deathly Hallows Thank you Joe, it has been a wonderous ride.

Great book for all ages!
The Harry Potter series are by far my favourite series of all time. The 7th installment is the best one yet. The story has good role models such as Hermione Ganger. Shes very commited to her studies and is very smart and hopes to give out a positive message by doing so. Harry Potter is a very strong person emotionally and has many different friendships throughout the series.

Great, but adults should read with kids 11 and under
This is an excellent book and a great way for the Harry Potter series to end. The writing is strong and the character development is well done. There is some violence (though not graphic) and some language (one use of "b**ch" and two uses of "effing" being the strongest).
