this book is hard to explain other then it is a great book there is many adult themes but this book is really good one of the stories is a old lady whos husband died and mistakes the main charater for him after reading to her a couple times she asks him if she was a good wife after reassuring her that she was she breaks down crying while this is sad she finally got the conculsion she wanted or when there is a girl who runs barefoot she is training for a race but she has very little selfconfidence he gives her an empty shoe box which doesnt make her win but she gives her oppent a run for her money all in all this book is great for anyone who is willing to read it
This book gives a real light on today's world. Parents who don't want their children reading this have sheltered them, and what good is that for your kids? I am the Messenger shows how people can change their own lives and the lives around them if they try.
i am reading this book in 10th grade English class and everyday i want to read ahead cause it is very interesting. i usually dont like reading but this book caught my attention, and held on through out. now granted the cover is stupid but the way the author puts it together makes this book fabulous! the readers can really relate to the characters cause honestly what 19 yr old knows exactly at there doing with there life!
read this book it will be worth it!
I love this book! it's brilliant, fascinating, and overall, enthralling! It's as good as any spectacular film! The character build is awesome and the dialogue is witty (like Pulp Fiction). PARENTS: there is extremely aberrant content, including incest and rape, multiple brutal beatings, drug use, sexual addiction, abandonment, shooting, home invasion, threatening, property damage, and swearing. Despite these down sides, this book has a fantastic moral and many "makes-you'fell-great" moments. I highly recommend it. Thanks for reading! - Movie Man
Yes, Yes, this book has some swearing, drinking, violence and discusses some sexual issues (pre-marital sex, promiscuity, sexual desires). It deals with the darker issues of domestic violence and domestic rape but not graphically and these issues are in a way resolved by the main character. I read this in high school and thought it was a fantastic book especially the conclusion, and recommended it to my friends. I would recommend this story to mature pre-teenagers and teenagers. I thought it went into some darker more adult issues and that they were resolved in a realistic manner...well realistic for a young adult novel. Parents, if you think this book is to graphic or goes against your beliefs, or just discusses things you dont want your child to read about, I would hope that you at least read this story before deciding if your kid is mature enough to read about the subject matter because it really is a great story.
Great novel for ages 15+. This novel is my personal favorite, as the storyline kept me on the edge of my seat. I love suspenseful movies/stories/etc., so this book was perfect with my personal tastes.
What a brilliant book. You won't be able to put it down. The main character's voice is compelling and, ultimately, what makes the book so real feeling. The whole story reminded me of the movie Pay It Forward. Small good deeds do change the world and those ripples often intersect. Read this book! It's an awesome one!
this book is excellent. There are twists and turns on every corner. It has a little bit of a love story, a little bit of mystery, action, and a lot more. You would enjoy this book if you like twisty turny books. I couldn't wait to see who was sending the cards. But if you are into fantasy books, this book is not for you.
This was such a good book that when Mr. Zusak messed up the end of it I was incredibly diappointed. There was so much potential for it to be the perfect book. I won't spoil the ending, but in my opinion it was like Mr. Zusak was in a hurry to finish it and just gave it the "mysterious stranger comes along and reveals everything" ending. AAAAARG! Why? WHY? The entire book was so imaginative and original! Why ruin it with a boring and already-been-used-countless-times ending?!?!?!
