Perfect for older kids, but you have to be mature enough to handle some of the topics
This book had me absorbed from the first line to the last page. It's insight into the mind of a kidnapped teenager is stunning and realistic. While i will admit that this book is a bit on the graphic side, I think it's good for teens to read it to understand that we aren't as invincable as we like to think we are. If pushed the right amount and to the right level, we can all break just as easily as a piece of straw. This is one book i will never forget reading, and I'm certain anyone else who reads it won't forget it either.
I love this book. honestly i think anything teen needs to read this book. in my opinion, i should teach teens not to go away with strangers even if they look safe. it helped me i'm only 16 and i feel like this book taught me something.
I hated this book. I read this when i was 15 and i was left feeling very disturbed. I'm 16 now and just reading what was said about the book leaves me feeling more disturbed. To think someone would actually write this and put it on shelves a for a teen to read is horrible.
I read this book and loved it!!! It was amazing!!! There are a couple of not so good stuff like sexual behavior. But over all if you are mature enough you will be ok on reading this book. I really believe you should read this book.
My mom read this book before I did when we were on a road trip. I had handed it to her so that she would stop bugging me about how bored she was. I watched her read this book, and was surprised to see my mother balling at the end of it. She turned around in the front seat, look at me dead on and told me she didn't want me to read it. I was a little shocked, because being a teenager, I had never heard these words before. I had read a lot of strong subject type books, and never once had she said anything to me about them. Eventually, she changed her mind and told me to read it, but to be aware of what I was reading. Yes, it is graffic, but it is also realistic. Wouldn't you rather your child know what is happening in the world, then to hide them from it? After all, knowing is better protection sometimes then not knowing. I am glad my mother let me read this book. I think Scott did a great job with her writing of the novel, and I'm glad she published it. I hope you allow your kids to read it if it is something they are interested in. Also, I hope you read it too. It might open your eyes a bit.
I'm 13 and read this book in about a day i think this book is appropriate for ages 13+ but it also depends on how mature the person is this book is very well written and it shows how bad the world really is. If children read this despite the language and sexual behavior.. it could be a life lesson for them what can happen to them if they follow strangers, or run away from your parents or a group your suppose to be in etc. But anyways if you think your child is mature enough to handle this book then you should let them read it because it is a very good novel and you wont be able to put it down.
I thought this book was a little disturbing, but I would still let a younger teen read it if they wanted to. I also think that it was very well written.
I personally loved this book. It is depressing but very educational. I just picked it up today and finished it in two hours. You will not be able to put this book down. I read all genres of books, but I always make it a point to pick a book like this at least once every month.
iLove htis book.
i really in 3 days and i think it was really sad.
i think 13 years old & up could read this.
Even though it has a lot of violence and inappropriate things.....
i think you could actually learn something :]
Well thats my opinion :]
I loved this book. I am a 14 year old girl. It was extremely hard to get through yet I couldn't put it down. I do like books that talk about difficult times people are having in their lives, oddly enough, because they are real. I think it's a fantastic book like this. It's good for teens over 14 who are used to reading these kind of books. Its good for teens over 16 if they haven't, but will still be a difficult read due to the content. I did cry at the end because of the result ((I never even saw it coming!!)) and it was just an incredible read. It was graphic, yes, but it wasn't an issue with me.
I LOVEEED this book !
It was sooo interesting !
I couldn't put it dowwn !
I lovedd it !
The only thing is that you have to be mature enough to read this book and understand it .
Honestly, for mature teens, there is no reason for them not to read it. The plot is well-described. I related to Alice to the point I want harm to come to Ray. The sex isn't overly-described, just mentioned enough for the reader to know what is going on.
I am 14 and nothing in this book was shocking or anything I havn't encountered in literature, movies, television, news, or from talking to people. In fact, I see more obscene things at school daily. The ending was somewhat weak but it was still an awesome book.
The biggest concern is violence.
Parents could read it themselves first and make a decision, or they could read it themselves and talk to about it with their teens if they want to. It could open discussion. I find it easier to talk to my parents about things that bother me via media. Rather than randomly ask about something, wait til it's mentioned on TV. That sort of thing.
Living Dead Girl is a good read if they teen is emotionally mature enough. It has a haunting, compelling story that will keep you reading. While it can be considered child torture porn, it is also a story that will make readers aware of the actual realities of a child abuction. It is actually very well written and the ending is even somewhat uplifting. It is a good read for teens 15 and older who are emotionally mature enough for its sometimes disturbing content. It even says 16 and up on the cover!
