Good but bad!
It has kissing, bad words, suicides, monsters, smoking ect. But it is a good book.

Pendragon: The Merchant Of Death is a great book. Fans of harry potter will love it. The is moderate cursing and a lot of violence (a man gets pushed down a giant hole, a beast blows up and meaty chunks of it are everywhere). Also there is one brief kiss at the begining.

Perfect for Kids and parents
This is the first book in a series, and this book was the first real book i read. It was gripping, suspensful and mind bogaling how it all worked. I recommend it to kids who like fantasy, even those who are iffy about reading, it got me hooked on reading It can do the same for you. Also A good book to read with aprents whom are interested in fantasy as well. It does have violence, but its what keeps people reading i think, and some cussw words, but I'll tell you know your kids have heard it before.

Best Series Ever
This series is the best that I've read so far, for me, it was even better than Harry Potter. Now, there are some issues which involve a bully (who no one likes)that smokes cigarettes, and the author possibly put that in there to tell kids that that is bad, and only bad people do that. No inappropriate behavior, except when there was a kiss in the very beginning. There is the occasional cuss word, but it's not too bad. It is violent, but it is written in a very creative way, and you will not get scared. Bobby Pendragon and all of the travelers are good remodels( except for Saint Dane), and they send a positive message in fighting for their territories. Anyone can read these series, and they really are amazing.

Awesome fantasy tale
Despite the fact that they have an opened mouth kiss at the beginning, it doesn't go into too much detail. They is some cussing now and then but it isn't anything major. The violence can be handled, for the worst is a man getting eaten and later they find his arm. Gruesome, but, again, not much detail. The teen smoking in a bathroom is an issue, but he a bully and no one likes him much. So a kid would think smoking is for mean people or bullies and people won't like you if you do smoke. It is a good plot and the climaxs are amazing. This book is perfect for fantasy lovers and Harry Potter fans. I just finished the second book, and I'm dying for some romance since only a wink happens in the book after this. If anyone has read the series, please tell me if there's any sparks in the future.

An Amazing book for Today's moving Generation.
I'll be flat out: "Pendragon" is one of my favorite book series of all time, and is dear to my heart. I put it up there with the Harry Potter series on children's novels. This book can be quite heavy on the violence, but the consumerism is to add to the feeling of reality, in a relating way to say, The Sopranos, a show known for using real products for reality's sake. The book is not overlong, as it reads like a movie script, using detail perfectly to paint the picture, but not using it to kill it. That said if your child has ADD or ADHD this is a book i highly recommend giving them to read if you wish for them to read so. And besides, with the Series ending last year, if he or she enjoys it enough, you can always pickup the next one asap, an opportunity I didn't have when reading it...

it has taken a place on my favorites shelf
There was swearing and smoking and violence but it was worth it. It was a classic science fiction, with explosions, over-ruling tyranny, travels between space and time, mysterious from the start. There are scary scenes in places but altogether a really really really good book. It has taken a place on my favorites shelf.

THE BOOK RATER
This book is great. How do i know? Well i never like to read but if u hold this book out ill read it till i read it *20 but anyway i think you should let you child read this. Why because, its full of adventure and excitement but there is mostly violence but it tells a good way to be a good teamworker. Good luck!

Perfect for tweens and teens
I found the Merchant of Death an dthe overall Pendragon series fascinating, exiting, and very humorus. There is violence and the occasional cuss word, but it's, in my opinion, appropriate for nine or ten and up.

Flumes are the Secret to Reading: Pendragon, Merchant of Death
I think this book is fantstic for kids about to go to middle school. I read it in the fifth grade, and I've been reading it ever since. It's a great way to get kids to read more. The plot is pretty fast-paced, keeping the reader's attention througout the story. It shows time and time again the importance of doing what's right, even if it doesn't always benefit you. There are other books in the series, but Merchant of Death is probably the most questionable for young readers along the lines of violence and language. There are a few greusome events in the book, but nothing too gut-wrenching. As for language, very mild curses are used, and as the story goes on, they become less and less frequent. This book appeals to many age groups, from early teens in middle school to adults in college. If you're unsure whether or not the book is a good choice to let your children read, try reading it yourself. It won't be a difficult task, I assure you. But over-all I believe that with the right children this book will open doors into the world of reading for a lifetime.
