I loved the book. As the last of three, it connected characters from the first two books and answered questions that the readers and characters had concerning other people in the characters' lives. I can see another book with the changes in Village being the primary focus.
The book Messenger by Lois Lowry is an amazing book. The main character Matty discovers that he has powers. This book is like a roller coaster with all the twist and turns. Would Matty and Kira be able to make through forest?
I think that this book was good because it can make someone think differently about life and be happy that they are living. Lois Lowry wrote the this exciting book for children and adults. This book deserves a 4 out of 5 because it made me feel happy and sad. She also made me sad in a good way because this book was emotional. In this book Matty was the main character. He had some kind of healing power that can heal things that are injured. His power started small but later on got stronger and began to heal big things like dogs and humans. If you continuously read this book you will find a surprising part in this book Please rate this 5 out of 5.

Messenger is the third installment to the The Giver series that is written by Lois Lowry. It leaves many questions unanswered. It was good book because it is telling us that world is turning bad by humans. But it is also telling us that we can fix the world. I didn't like that Kira, Matty, and Leader have special powers because it makes the story very unbelievable. It was kind of turning into Harry Potter. I liked whole story except that Kira, Matty, and Leader have special powers.
Messenger held my interest and provided great imagery and originality, but left many questions unanswered. There were many obstacles for Matty and Kira on their journey, and the use of their gifts were very creative. It ended abruptly after three very intense and violent chapters. I would recommend it for a mature preteen, but not a child. It would be helpful to read The giver first, but it is not completely necessary.
You just have to get through the first chapter, and you'll be hooked! Ages eight to eighty will absolutely love crying, laughing, and reading this amazing book!
I enjoyed reading this mook very much. Lois Lowry is a wonderful author, so that made the story even better. There is a lot of description of the surrounds and the characters feelings and situations. I definitely reccommend this book to kids my age.
I really loved this book, among other Lois Lowry books. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. It's a very emotional story with an amazing storyline and a great style of writing. If you've read The Giver and Gathering Blue, or just one of them Messenger is a MUST-READ!
I'm rather baffled at all the 4 and 5 ratings on The Messenger. I was REALLY enjoying the book, but it ended with more questions than answers. I was annoyed that this book spent so much time reviewing our main characters. I felt that Matty's character could have stood alone w/o all the backstory. Perhaps a little less looking back would have left room to answer so many questions left unanswered. Like what happened to Trademart? And what is going on with the Trademaster. How could he trade people for looks, love, and material items? What is he getting in return and why does he want it? What does this have to do with Forest?
There needs to be another book. If not, then don't even waste your time reading this one. The Giver and Gathering Blue should stand alone if The Messenger is the end.
