Not the worst, but very unpleasant and pretty hard to read through at some points
I read this in school a few years ago, and found it rather unpleasant to get through. Look, I get that she had a sad backstory and all, but the titular Gilly Hopkins is an absolutely awful person, constantly being an unlikable brat, who preforms acts so astonishingly unsympathetic, like stealing from a blind man, and using slurs against African Americans, without learning to be a better person whatsoever. Also, the storyline is pretty dull, with not much happening, and whatever does happen is bland, boring, or annoying. Definitely nowhere near the worst thing ever, but I can confidently say that there has been better.

The Great Gilly Hopkins
I got The Great Gilly Hopkins at a library from a free-book run.
I started reading the book and there were cuss words in the second chapter.
I think it would be a cute book, I just don't like the cuss words.
Somewhere in the second chapter I think Gilly gets in trouble for using God's name in vain, but I'm not sure if she actually stops. So far from what I've read, it's a cute book. I just wish they wouldn't have cuss words in it. I don't know what age this book should be for, but probably not for a kid who repeats things or gets things stuck in their heads.

Read This Book!
Gilly Hopkins is a foster girl who always moves from house to house and wants to meet her mother. I like her personality in a way. She is very compassionate and brave. She sticks up for herself, but sometimes that is what gets her in trouble. When she moves into a new house, she makes fun of her new foster mother and brother. Just be cautious. There are a few curse words in the book and some violence. But overall, the book is very interesting to read. Read it!

The Horrible Hopkins
I had to read this for school. Gilly is a out of control kid sets the worst example possible for her younger foster brother. She swears on about every other page and gets in alot of fights, she even steals from a blind man and her foster mother. this book is pointless
