this was definatly creech's best book yet. i cant understand why anyone could not like such a book, Its story could fuel your heart and captivate you mind with its breath taking human beauty a must read for anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book was a bit slow moving for both me and my 13 year old son. It was pretty much same old, same old until the end. It did have some good lessons about working together and about the choices we make.
The Wanderer is a beautifully crafted book about life. There are interesting characters in a changing and challenging setting. This would be a great springboard for journal writing.
Sophie is not only the main character, but the name of my daughter. We loved this book. Although Sophie's background is somewhat troubling, I rated the social stuff as good stuff because of the way its handled.
My Sophie is 9 and a very stong reader. Wait a few more years for kids that aren't strong readers as the format could be confusing.
Neither Sophie nor I found it to be a problem and enjoyed having Cody reveal things that Sophie didn't.
I love this book because its very instering and you can't put it down once you start reading it.It's sorta easy to understand 'cause the chapters are very short. If you like a good sea book, than you should read this one.
i liked this book i ould not stop reading this my teacher asked me what a theme for the book was and i said it was hard work always pays off in the end
I read this book aloud to my 11-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter (and 41-year-old husband). It was a very interesting book to read aloud and I enjoyed bringing slightly different voices to Cody and Sophie. My 9-year-old criticized the back-and-forth journal entry styles as confusing but it seemed to intrigue the rest of us. Reading it aloud heightened the suspense about Sophie's past, Bompie's present and the future of the family as a whole.
This book is very well written and I loved it. The main character (Sophie), is a strong girl who LOVES to sail on the ocean and be very near the ocean. Her uncles, and two boy cousins are going on a boating trip and Sophie wants to come along. Everybody thinks that boating os for boys but Sophie thinks otherwise.
Not for little kids, older kids in third grade and up would enjoy it
I like it, I read it in fourth grade and 9 or 10 years old, and now I still re-read it and I'm in sixth grade and 12. If you don't like it (which some of my friends don't), then its understandable because the vocabulary is tough and it had a hard to follow plot.
