This is one of the second-best books I've ever read The relationship that Arthur and Ben build is so sweet and just a gentle romance. It's a happy book but it also has moments of conflict between characters which actually seems realistic. The authors clearly know what situations are in need of a more dramatic approach, things that will genuinely annoy you and when you see how the characters react you are invested. In addition to these positives, you can really tell the different personalities and ways of the characters, I knew when I was reading Ben's perspective without even looking at the chapter title. In conclusion, the book is worth a read. If you don't like it, at least you gave it a chance. You never know where books will take you and this one I really appreciated reading. I love the other books by Becky Albertalli aswell, you should definitely look into reading them! by Jennifer Mercado Millan

Amazing book. Wonderful.

This book is an absolute masterpiece. It's about 2 boys named Arthur and Ben in a relationship and friend group drama. It's full of romance and love and it'll just have you wanting more. I finished this book in a day because it was so hooking. I definitely recommend this book!

Ok....expected more though

The book was good, i'll give it that. I mean I was entertained. I read it in three days. Honestly though I didn't really love the characters. The two main characters were very plain and their relationship seemed really rushed. It was hard to emotionally connect with them and their relationship progressing forward when theres not much covered on it. For example (SPOILER WARNING) they are on date number five a week in. First kiss two weeks in. "I love you" three weeks in. And sex four weeks in. Thats the book. The sex scenes were a bit more graphic than I though but I wouldn't know cause I skipped it (it's very easy to do so). I just have to say, if you are not going to skip the scenes, late 13 and 14 is the age range.

While the story is very cute and while I like LGBTQ romances, this book isn't the best LGBTQ book you could be reading. The representation of any relationship in this book is really over sexualized. Both the gay and the straight couples constantly make sexual references, talk about having sex, and there are buildups to sex scenes (though they are not described). It doesn't give a good role model for what healthy relationships should be. There is a lot more to any relationship than just the sexual aspect of it and that wasn't represented a lot in this book. Not only that, the characters swear quite a bit. I'm fine with swearing, but it used the f word quite a bit and it made it seem like it was okay to use that much swearing. While swearing is up to the individual, this isn't a great role model to younger kids. 16 and up even feels a little young to me. But if you don't care about these kinds of things, then that's totally okay. It was a cute story and if you're just looking for a fun, easy romance, I say go for it. If you are looking for good LGBTQ representation though, I might suggest looking elsewhere, since the couple isn't really that great of a representation.

One of the best gay romances I've read

What if It's Us showed me what a positive relationship should look like. It's very well written from both points of view in the story, and it includes a lot of relevant topics that are important for any teen to read about. Shows that there is always room for second chances (like second first dates) and that no one is perfect. While is kissing, implied sex and brief mentions of porn, it is written for a younger audience and is not too much and not graphic. It is a very fun read!

Great

There is strong language up to f*ck frequently. Much kissing and implied sex. A great read with positive messages! And a little underage drinking.

Amazing and INCREDIBLE book for teens!

Aw, this book was the most incredible book I have read in a long time. Spoilers: the ending is a little disappointing, it's not too sad or anything but I was a little disappointed. But otherwise, it's an AMAZING book and I definitely recommend it to teens and adults everywhere! As for age to read it, it was a little inappropriate in parts and I think it would be best for kids ages 14+ but it depends on your household. I'd definitely recommend reading the CommonsSense review before you buy it. :)
