Totally harmless game. 12+ at the most

Really not as bad as it looks at first. My advice to other parents is to let your kids rent it first and you will realize it isn't bad at all.

Great game when you think your child is mature enough

Battlefield 2 is probably the most realistic game out there. Realistic in the sense of the weapons and vehicles and ranking system, not violence. The great thing is that you will never see any gore or flying body parts in this game. Language online results in bans in %95 of the servers, so there wont be a problem there. There is no reference to drugs or sexual activity, so you are also clear there. It is a first person shooter without the things you don't want your kids to see. I play it myself and have come to enjoy it a lot. I give my kids a lot of freedom and let them decide themselves if they think they are mature enough for things. But if I see that they are doing things they are not supposed to, they begin to lose privileges. I think kids as early as 10 can play this if you believe your child can handle it. I would monitor them while they play, but it is always good to catch them early and teach them what they did wrong and how to avoid that situation in the future.

    Perfect game for modern warfare.

Now I'll tell you, I'm a fan of WWII shooters (Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, Call of Duty 3, and Battlefield 1942 are just a few). However, when it comes to making modern warfare shooters fun, Battlefield 2 is the best. This game has high intensity firefights that remain bloodless (a plus for parents), has an incredible AI that is pretty much as good as any human opponent that you will face, and, with artillary fire, you better watch out when you hear squeaking. You also can pull off incredible stunts that I have seen people on videos do, and they look awsome. I like sniping on a building and then have to make a dramatic jump when I hear artillery coming in. This game is one of the best on the PC. Violence isn't much of an issue as already mentioned. The most offensive part is if a person gets caught next to an explosion, they will go flying in the air. As far as knife fights go, when a person gets hit in the neck a puff of smoke comes out (much better than the usual head falling off). Unlike most shooters, Battlefield games do not have bad language, and you can play this feeling safe about that, although some online servers allow profanity, but some will kick you off if you use it if it is anything like BF 1942 (you do need to buy something to allow you to play single-player online so you can play multiplayer when you reach a high enough level). The way people act is incredible. Medics come to your aid, people appologize for accidental team hits, and you will eventually do it just as well (teamwork, teamwork, teamwork. Something that games need and war games like MoH, CoD, and BF are perfect for that). However, I hear that online a lot only look out for themselves. When it comes to the educational value, you can learn a lot about what war is like. You may want to talk to your children about how soldiers don't die as often, firefights are bloodier in real life, and you also don't have only sixty-four soldiers on the battlefield at max. It does include strategy, and your child will learn about modern day weapons of warfare. You also may want to tell them how this kind of violence is only justifiable in war predominantly. When it comes down to it BF 2 is awsome. Another good game from the Battlefield series is Battlefield 1942 which is just as good, actually better than this, except it doesn't have as good of an AI (artificial intelligence for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about). If you have the system to run it (make sure you have an NVIDIA video card if you do meet the minimum video requirements) then buy this. Do note though that just because you have minimum requirements, doesn't mean every course will run well (on the stand alone, I found one course that didn't run perfectly). This is good for ages 10+ I would say.

    Not for immature anybody

This game would be best for a 13 year old. But if the kid is REALLY mature and REALLY into the military and fiction war, then yes it would be for them if they arnt 13. This game takes way less skill then the pc version (Almost totaly diffrent game.) The most violent part of this game is the fact that sometimes bodys do not come out of destroyed armor and helicopters. Some people are very immature in online play (For example,Team killing for vehicals and Jumping around dead bodys),so if your child goes on a rampage when he/she cant get a kill then do NOT let them play the game. all in all,i give this 5 stars

My Review for Battlefield 2 on the PC

Battlefield 2 is an online first-person shooter for the PC and it is one of the best (I think). The violence is very mild in this game and is bloodless. For some reason I had more fun playing this game on the PC then the PS2! This game is very fun (and I mean very)!! The only thing I would complain about a little bit is that hotswap is not in this game (hotswap is where you can swap between soldiers). The only language (and I didn't count it as language because it's not the computer saying it) is when you play online and unfortunatly it can be very strong, but you can play it offline too and it's almost exactly the same. In the end I recommend this game to anyone who likes online first-person shooters or offline and anybody who just plain needs a first-person shooter on their PC. P.S. I'm ps2gamer5-1-O! (I reviewed the PS2 version on that name.)

Good, on the right map with the right people.

This is very educational, first off, it uses a completely correct Army ranking system, with real Army rank insignia, and a good ranking. It also uses real weapons. It has helped a friend of mine in JROTC. About the right map...Wake Island 2007 is a very, very good map. Download it. The problem is, lots of n00bs get on there, that may be Seargents, but have the maturity of a third grader (no offense to any of the mature third graders out there.) People do teamkill for planes, and do lots of things for things, that would normally get them kicked. But, when this happens, people get emotional and swear. So, be careful.

One of the best war games ever!!!

This game is one of the best war games ever! Why you ask? You can swap between soldiers!!! The gameplay is also very good. It's completly bloodless too. So if you do not want your kid to play games with blood and your okay with a lot shooting then there really is not any more problems with this game. I incourage any fan of first person shooters or someone who wants to be to buy or rent this game.

    great tactical shooter

Battlefield 2 is not like the first two battlefield games. 1. it requires more tactical planning. 2.combat is squad on squad not team on team. 3 it takes place in the near future and one faction (MEC) does not exist. Sometimes ammo runs out and ai s use shock paddles or combat knives in fast paced, hand to hand combat. freindly fire is common. medics often sacrafice themselves to save a player in a firefight. this game is solid teamwork and one cacnt go up agains a high tech army alone... a good purchase

bloodless war game that is fun at first, but can get boring and repetitive. The real fun begins if you play it online. Without online play, you are better off buying a different war game such as "Call of Duty 2"
