What Parents Need to Know

This review of Disney Learning 1st & 2nd Grade was written by Jinny Gudmundsen

Parents need to know that this three-bundle title is worth purchasing not because it has a new software title, but because it contains Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys, an outstanding children's software title.

What’s the Story?

With DISNEY LEARNING 1ST & 2ND GRADE, consumers get Disney's The Jungle Book Learning, a new software title, plus the previously released Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys and Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade -- all for $20.

In Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys, players explore learning activities with Mickey and his friends in a haunted house. This title for kids ages 5 to 8 includes mischievous ghosts, terrific tutoring, and adaptive and manual approaches to leveling. The new Disney's The Jungle Book Learning offers a lot of content in math, reading, and science.

Is It Any Good?

Is this bundle worth it? Yes, because it contains Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys, a top-notch learning adventure.

Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade has some fun educational activities, but it is not a powerhouse. Jungle Book Learning gets bogged down with slow transitions, too much talking, and activities that take too long to complete. The adventure is structured so that kids need to finish certain activities before others become available. And some of the activities require children to read, so this may not be an ideal program for beginning first-graders who are just starting to read.
