What Parents Need to Know
This review of NBA Live 2004 was written by Chris Saunders
Parents need to know that the players strut around after dunks and do foul hard, but the play is no more violent than a real NBA game. The pace is way too fast to zero in on inside play, which eliminates cheap shots and flying elbows. Because this game is officially licensed by the NBA, all teams where authentic game jerseys -- the same jerseys that you'll find for sale in just about every athletic apparel store.
Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about whether this game is similar to real NBA games. How do you feel about playing as a superstar? What about the other players on the floor? Is this a game that you like playing with friends and/or family? If so, why?

What’s the Story?
In NBA LIVE 2004, players now have the ability to easily maneuver every player on the court, including defensive players. No longer will the point guard be able to slash to the basket uncontested for an easy layup.
A variety of easy-to-learn game modes are available, making it great for even the youngest players. If you are new to the game, start in practice mode. The slower beginner mode allows players to learn all of the skills they will need when they take on the big boys in more advanced play modes.
CloseIs It Any Good?
Like most EA titles, the game is realistic -- right down to the authentic NBA jerseys. That may be the only potential negative, as this game will bring hours of gaming fun for children ages 6 and up.
You can't go wrong with this fast-paced, easy-to-learn gaming experience. Unless you consider thundering dunks violent, this game is a great choice for younger audiences.
