    good stuff

this teaches children to be resourcceful and to use what they have availabe. it also lets them practice logical thinking by giving hints on where the player should go next to go farther along in the game, and how to get past obsticals in an efficient and effective way. though it has animal against animal violence, it has no blood or gore that is prevelent in most best sellers today.

    OK with time limits

This game is OK, if you set some time limits on the kids play. Perhaps the greatest problem is the time lost to the game from activities with other people/activities which require more motion.

    NOT VIOLENT

i play this game, and i think that this is actually a very good and enjoyable game. all these parents are saying that this game is all "violent" and stuff, but this isn't like grand theft auto or anything-killing pokemon isn't the main goal-it's to win the pokemon leauge. also, you don't really "kill" any pokemon-you just get them to "faint"

    Amazing.

It was the first game boy advance I ever got. It's basically the classic enhanced with better graphics and some extra features. I love it. I can't say enough good things about it. Personally, I prefer Firered to Leafgreen.

    XD

I couldn't help but laugh when I read the review by the parent who thought this game should have been rated M for being "a virtual cock fight" with "explicit content, period". There's no blood or death. You can breed Pokemon, but you can breed dogs too, can't you? It's not like the Hot Coffee mod in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas... Thank God. There's no language, no drugs, no alcohol... Nothing about this game is explicit. The only problem is that it is highly addicting. At first glance it seems like a "kiddie" game, but hoo boy, you WILL be hooked. You WILL play for hours on end until you complete your Pokedex and have the ultimate Pokemon party (not like a birthday party... Party is the term used for your 6 Pokemon you carry around with you). This game teaches kids to depend on others to accomplish tasks (to advance in the game, certain moves like the HM Cut have to be used to, well, cut down trees and the like. Since only certain types can learn these moves, it encourages the player to experiment with all the Pokemon he or she has caught.) and ultimately get to the Pokemon League, where you'll beat the game through trial and error as every member of the Elite Four is a master of a different Pokemon type. This forces the player build a balanced team, since some types are strong against others, and some are weak against others. (Water over fire, fire over grass, grass over water, etc.) Explicit content... Ell oh ell.

A must-read book for every 8 year old.

It was very educational. My five year old (brother) learned the pythagorean theorem.

If you like the other pokemon games, you will like this one!

Better than the oter pokemon games, this is a decent game. It's kinda hard, and the wireless adapter is okay. I agree with the other review though, it's not worth 20 bucks to buy it seperatly

not as good as i expected, but...

this is pretty good. but whatever you do don't waste your money on buying a wireless adapter seperately for $20. my friend and i tried it when we both got the game and it could barely reach from my top floor to my basement(i have 3 stories). i mean why such a small range if you put a chat program in the game. you might as well walk to someone in person to talk to them if you can see them 50 feet away from you. but the gameplay is awesome. but i agree with that other review: the graphics could use some work. i can't believe i'm saying this but i think i didn't get my money's worth, i was half-excited for the wireless adapter and i was tricked with alot of others about that wireless adapter but the game is still good that's my main point.

    Revisit the Timeless Classic Again

I highly disagree with the reviewer when he says that this game is geared towards little kids - it's great for all ages. I had so much fun playing through this game when it first came out on my GameBoy Color, so it's a thrill to revisit this Nintendo classic. It's extremely addictive, and wireless play makes it even more so (you won't ever be able to go back to wires.) I think the graphics could be a little better, though - they're not bad, but compared to other GBA RPGs, they could use some inprovement Parents might want to know that while there is little to no violence in this game, there is a huge emphasis on gambling, which I'm surprised didn't go into the rating. This game is great - in fact, I'm gonna go play it right now.
