Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this downloadable game teaches logical thinking and was created for families to play together. There are two ways to explore this game: with a timer or without. It's easiest for kids to start without the timer so that they can explore the possibilities. The game also provides helpful hints to show possible ways to solve puzzles. A less robust version is offered for free online, and families may want to try that version before deciding to pay and download the full game.

Families can talk about how each level is more difficult than the next. Why is it that when the web is broken, it's more challenging to solve the puzzle? Parents may also want to talk about the timer option. Do you prefer to play with a time limit or not? How does it change the game?

Parents looking for ways to teach logical reasoning will delight in exploring RAINBOW WEB with their kids.

Created as a family game, Rainbow Web provides a series of 60 progressively more difficult puzzles accompanied by a simple story: An evil wizard named Spider bewitched the Rainbow Kingdom. Once sparkling and vibrant, it's now dark and gray, hidden behind a series of giant webs.

Players rescue the kingdom and restore its brilliance by freeing letters (which are trapped in the webs) that spell the names of 60 magic places.

Players solve puzzles on a round playfield that looks like a spider web. Colored gems are embedded in the web, some of which contain letters. To release the letters to spell words, players swap neighboring gems by sliding them along the silvery threads of the spider web.

Players can only swap gems if they align three or more gems of the same color in a row either vertically or horizontally.

There are obvious exchanges that kids as young as 6 will see, but some of the more complicated ones might require some hints from Mom or Dad. As players advance, more colored gems appear, and some of the strands of the web disappear, making some of the gems harder to reach.

When families gain experience, they may want to play with the time pressure. This option also lets family members compete for the highest score.

Rainbow Web is accompanied by gentle, flowing music. As players win each level, sparkling images of rainbows and beautiful landscapes appear.

This game is downloadable. Many of the casual game portals feature it, or parents can download it directly from www.sugargames.com.
