Why We Rated This on for Ages 6 and Up

The good stuff

  • Educational value:

Age-appropriate puzzles will provide a challenge for beginning players.
  • Messages:

    Not an issue.

What to watch out for

  • Violence & scariness:

There are plenty of monsters and ghosts throughout the game, which could possibly frighten the youngest players. They are similar to the villains that are in the cartoon, though, so if your kids can handle that, this will be no problem.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

This review of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem was written by Chris Saunders

Parents need to know thatthis game probably will only appeal to a small age group. There is no violence, but ghosts and monsters that chase Scooby and Shaggy may frighten young players. First-timers may be frustrated by the challenging puzzles that need to be solved to advance, while mature players will probably master the game in minutes and be ready to move on to something else.

More on Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem

What’s the Story?

In SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY MAYHEM, the sequel to Night of 100 Frights, players alternate control between Scooby and Shaggy to locate a powerful book called the Tome of Doom, which a wealthy businessman is using to summon a wild assortment of creatures. The main objectives include ensnaring monsters, searching for clues, solving puzzles, and grabbing as many bonus Scooby Snacks as possible along the way.

Each of the six spooky levels will test players' ability to solve puzzles, outsmart villains and capture ghosts with the Tome of Doom. Players will explore environments that include a movie set, bayou, abandoned laboratory, and the Wild West.

Is It Any Good?

Unlike a lot of adventure games, this one has only single-player mode. This allows players to determine their own fate, while giving them the opportunity to learn the tricks needed to solve the mysteries in each unique environment.

Overall, the content is suitable for children of all ages. However, the beginning player may get a bit frustrated by the challenging puzzles that need to be solved to advance, while the more experienced player may quickly get bored with the game.
