What Parents Need to Know

This review of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 was written by Jeremy Gieske

Parents need to know that this game contains plenty of explosions, shooting, and violent deaths. Players are expected to work with a team to tactically eliminate enemy soldiers on a variety of battlefields. The battlefield language can get a little colorful with words like "damn" and "hell" used during cutscenes. This game has an online component so that players may be exposed to language from other online players.

More on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

What’s the Story?

In TOM CLANCY'S GHOST RECON ADVANCED WARFIGHTER 2, or simply GRAW 2, rebel fighters in Mexico have overthrown much of the Mexican government and now are threatening the United States with possible nuclear weapons. It's time to call in the ghost team -- a highly advanced but secret special forces squad. The player leads the protagonist, Captain Scott Mitchell, through missions on both sides of the border, fighting with rebels, mercenaries, and a host of other baddies. Most of the game is pure tactical first-person action. A wide assortment of weapons and tools are available, and in several missions, the player chooses three additional teammates to help out. Occasionally, the player gets to make use of armored vehicles, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles, which adds variety to the game. Close

Is It Any Good?

As tactical shooters go, GRAW 2 is one of the best available right now. Stunning graphics, outstanding multiplayer options, and a team-control system that works smoothly all come together in a well-designed and very playable sequel.

GRAW 2 also does a decent job of drawing a line between portraying the realism of the battlefield without going to the extreme of using blood and guts as a shock factor. Blood is visible, but not spurting everywhere. Body parts don't go flying off after an explosion. And, generally speaking, the game is fast enough paced that players don't spend a lot of time looking at the carnage they have caused. Overall, GRAW 2 is an outstanding first-person shooter game for teens and above. Close

Perfect for someone who wants a break from run and guns

It uses tactical strategy to engage the enemy and uses a medic who is weakend by weaker armor and weaponry. even on the easiest difficulty you can only get shot 6 times and the hardest its once and your dead. Blood is not emphasised but is noticeable and can be turned off in options. D*** is frequently used not only in cutscenes and b*****rd is used to. This game is great gameplay but when online its fine as long as you dont turn voicechat on with swear happy players littering the bayttlefield.

    Great Game

This is a great game! It helps people think outside of the box on how they think they will eliminate the enemy. The blood is not bad, its barley visible. Captain Mitchell is a good model.

game is not bad at all!!!!

The game barely has any violence. Just a little bit of blood when you shoot somebody. But the blood can be turned off.

one of the best TEEN shooters!

There is really no doubting that this is a great game. It shows that blood and guts flying everywhere doesn't make a game fun and exciting. As far as graphics go, these are top-notch! Another great feature is that your AIs or team mates are smarter compared to other shooters. The capaign mode is awsome, and the online play is pretty good, but the local play (split screen) could be better. Now, for the parents... the only iffy thing in the game is language. Words like "hell", "dam*", "ass", "bas***d", and even "bit**" are shouted during combat. Blood is very minimal, like a small cloud, only for a second after some one gets shot. But if you can't stand that, then you have the option to turn the blood effects off. There is absolutly no gore.

An Ok 3rd Person Shooter, But a Bit Tedious

I not a huge fan of 3rd person shooters, but this one was just plain tedious. If you're into this kind of thing though, then the content is ok. If you look closely you can see some blood, but not too bad. The language might be a factor for younger players because of the words h***, d***, and a** used sometimes.
