Ive played WoW for quite some time and quite frankly anyone under the age of 16 should not be allowed to play this game. The chat can be provocative, drug related, and just plain inappropriate at time and unless you are sitting over your kids shoulder watching their every move you cant keep track of them. and who they are talking to,. Be very careful

I love the game and my kids enjoy it, they prefer creating characters and then playing a little and then deleting them and starting again, a little like big girls Barbie. They don't interact with other players at all and they /ignore anyone who talks to them. They do enjoy the low level questing and really have learned a huge amount about map reading and co-ordinates

Warning!! Very Addictive
I played World of Warcraft (WoW) for three years, i am 18 and addicted, although my addiction didn't get out of control, like stealing to play, skip classes, spend loads of money... etc. My parents caught the problem right before i spent all summer on it, and didn't get a job. I still play behind my parents back off and on and i cant seem to break my habit. If you think about playing this game i highly suggest that you do not. My friend got me into it and i wish i didn't even start playing. When you do a dungeon or a raid its a random drop, its like a slot machine, random chance. It consumed a lot of my time, you push to be better and better, but the game never ends, i was in the best gear and the best guild at 70 then the WOTLK and it all started over again. i spent about 8-9 hours a day on it from, 12:40 when i got off school to about 10 at night on school night and then weekend about 2-3 in the morning and sleep in till 12 and then do it again. I am writing this so that maybe i can help someone to not be addicted to the game. I have been addicted for 2 1/2 years and i recommend not to let your kids play, or for you to play!!!

This game ruins lives
This game is one of the most beautifully designed and intricate games ever designed. The game play in here is extremely immersive-it cannot be understood how much it is without you actually sitting down and playing this game. I have played this game on and off for approximately 5 years. The players who play this game call it WoWCrack because it is the most addictive game you will most likely ever encounter. This game as a previous poster stated will ruin your lives bc kids (and adults) will play this game for hours on end and spend there time away from the game thinking about the game and their "character/s". No young child should be subjected to this type of alternate reality since it will ruin their desire to do normal activities such as watching tv, homework, hanging out with friends, playing sports, doing chores, or any other normal activity. This game should not be played with anyone who is healthy or has a family and friends. This game should only be played by those that are seriously ill-that it affects their everyday normal active lifestyle, for the elderly, or for those that are truly hermits. If I sound upset about this game, I am upset bc many people that I know in this fantasy world of Azeroth have ruined families and relationships that revolve completely around this game. If you don't want your loved ones to spend 8+ hours on a daily basis playing a game in an alternate fantasy world then do not let them play this game-ever. Good Luck and hope that you make the right decision... One last thing this is a very very very difficult game to walk away from and quit.

I'll Admit...
When I first heard about this game I thought it sounded stupid, but then I downloaded the free trial. Within 2 days of having the free trial I bought the game, a month later, the BC expansion. I am addicted. Anyone who says to put a limit of 45 minutes on a child to play this game has obviously not played the game enough. If you only want your child playing for 45 minutes every time they play, they'll never be able to get anything done. There are things in this game called Instances - Dungeon raids. Those alone can often take two or more hours alone. So, if you're not willing to actually let your child play the game - don't bother letting them start in the first place! I know (and raid with) seven year olds on some occasions. I think it would be a lot of fun to play the game along with your children, actually. But as I said, expecting no more than 45 minutes at a time is... really very stupid if you're going to let them play at all. If you're an adult or don't have crazy parents: play the game!! It's a blast!!

Caution: Addicting
I think this game is appropriate for 13 years old and up. Only big negatives: very addicting, so be aware of this and restrict game play accordingly. Use of parent filters is a plus. Secondly, since chat is a big part of the game, you child will be viewing what others have to say...the good and bad. Most players seem to be teens, however you should pop in and read what your child is reading and how he/she is being "talked" to. Make your own character and try it out too. See if you approve. Overall, good game, kids "meet" other kids from different parts of the world. They learn cooperative play, and really sharpen those typing skills. Just be involved with them and check in a lot. Limit the length of game play time.

just a warning
This is a free country and you are certainly free to raise your children as you see fit, but I just wanted to share our experience with you regarding this game. I agree that it is very well made as far as games go and fun to play but with some huge consequences. Our 19 year old son started playing 3 months ago. Before the game he had never skipped classes, never was late to work, was a penny pincher, spent time with family and friends, pretty much an overall good kid. Well, soon after he joined this fantasy world everything started changing. He started ignoring friends and family, spent all of his time locked up in his room (playing until wee hours of the morning), paid over 200 dollars to have a new internet server installed on our house so the graphics would run faster( not to mention now having to pay every month for the service) started skipping college classes, and has now been told by his boss that if he wakes up late again not to bother coming in at all. We warned him about monitoring the time he spent on WoW, but to no avail. He is now minus a laptop until college starts in the fall. We have had more than one other occasion where other families have suffered from this game as well. Please proceed with caution!

An Expensive, Quickly Boring Game
First of all, I'd like to say that I was very happy once I quit playing WoW. It angered me when I went to cancel my membership, (I had decided the game wasn't for me). It was difficult to find the membership cancellation page, and when I finally did cancel it, a note came up saying that Blizzard was, "sorry that another company had lured me in". This made me very happy that I was out. As for the game itself, it's really just OK. It's pretty average for an MMORPG. They could at LEAST bring the cost down from $15 to something more reasonable, like $10. There IS a discount for paying, say, for six months, but you still have to pay for a few months in advance to get that discount. The game is set in the world of Azeroth, where you complete quests and slay monsters to earn items, cash and honor. The game is violent, so it's probably not good for children under the age of 12, but it's not particularly BLOODY violence. I'd play the game first to make sure it's right for your kids. The community is helpful, but can be at times rude and even outright mean. People will walk around, annoying other players just to spite them. Be warned, it's not a game for younger kids.

Game is too addicting but fun to play. No more for me !
For what it's worth. Knowing most people won't care what I think. Do yourselves a favor and don't get started with this game. In a nutshell: Gameplay is long and boring. Quest are annoying as game does not give you enough info on where to go. So you have to buy game books and there are about 5 or more to buy. You must spend hours if not days to level up. You lose sleep, social life, grades and work are affected in a bad way. My son and daughter are now addicted and play every day for hours on end and have even got into arguements on playing for 7 to 12 hours a day. Tonight i deleted my charactors and will uninstall from my computer. I regret that i ever got started with it. Do yourselves a big favor. DONT GET IT. And do something more important with your valuable time. I have lost so much time with family & friends over this game. Now time for cold turkey from this game. PS: I rarely see my 26 & 22 year old as they are at work or playing that @$@$%# game. I will find some way to break them from its addicting clutches.

No Real Disturbance: FULL REVIEW- MUST READ!!!
Okay, this is a Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game and simply because you are dealing with live, real people; there is a chance your child may come across bad content (cussing, rudeness, etc.) and i think that this really is not a warning only a note, if your child can deal with minor animated violence and the occasional [bad example of a person] it's fine and a fun game so i don't see why it is a "No" Alcohol: No warning- virtually you can drink alcohol (which never happens) and your character will do a drunk walk and have "... HIC!" at the end of everything he/she says. Other: the game truly tries to make a parody of everything like having this tech-like character named "scooty" after Scotty from star trek and that such, It isnt a bad xgame i believe and is good NOTE: Parental controls are avaliable and should be exercised as this game can become a bit "absorbing" and could easily keep your child busy for hours on end Other than that, let them go at it, i have found its a good way to expose my kid to the many types of people in the world (from the "bad examples" to good and everything in between)

Descent game
All in all World of Warcraft is a good game for ages 13 and up. While there is minor sexual content and violence, the graphics is controlled and they dont over do it in any area. Quests in the game range from delivering a package to NPC's to killing a certain amount of monsters. The only thing with this game is if your child is playing it, I would highly recommend supervision and close monitoring to what they're doing and how long they are playing. The whole game is played online so if you dont have the computer in the same room your watching TV I wouldnt recommend it. You also have to monitor how much time is being spent on it. Its a neverending game so there is always something else to do. Set time's for your kids to play and this game will be well worth the money. Hours of enjoyment.

A must-read book for every 8 year old
okay, like i am a big on nerd games kinda guy, so i had to check this out. if anything, i wouldn't worry about sexual content. A problem could be exposure to other people, but wow is generally a safe environment with people who just want to play and do quests and raids. Alcohol and violence could be an issue, but even tv rated for kids could even have more. these things our glorified in our society and early exposures are important so that young kids dont take them the wrong way.

Wonderfully fun and great graphics.
WOW is a fun, intense, and very involved game. I recommend it for anyone 10 and up, but as a parent who plays and has children who play here a few things to wtch for. 1. Involvment: this game can take over your life so moniter your childs playing time. Get a character of your own so u can know what your child is talking about when they say"but mom, i have to play, people are depending on me" or, " i need 15% more xp to get level 40 so I can buy my mount". 2. Guilds: Make sure your child gets in a guild that is sensitive to the fact that their are young children who play. Most guilds are good and know when a younger person is playing and will watch language and content in vent or on chat, but not all so look out for this. Over all this game is great for all who like role playing games that let them "escape" for a while.

A good example of how kids can get so into the FAKE worlds
---This game has surpassed many games in gameplay an possibilities to keep playing and playing. THe game never stops. If it does they find somthing new. It is great for fun, after you have learned the immense amount of rules and howto's that come with it. Fine enjoy, BUT it is addictive.... No question about it. It is like you constantly want to achieve something... and if uncontrolled by parents, the kids just start dreaming about... so to speak .Like that is their life. Why ? I think because it looks so easy and fun and so innocent, neglecting the fact that kids DON'T constantly learn at school what is GOOD for them. THat issue is not discussed at school in general in addition to the normal education of mahtematics, ethics or whatever they 'need' te WORK later. Nothing they learn to be happy. They have to discover that themselves if their parents or their friends don't teach them. The parents may know, but in the rushing daily life of parents it is often possible that this is not really payed attention to. So kids learn from their friends who are exposed to the same useless information from TV-shows and commercials. Be careful. This game is fun, but they don't give a shit about your childs welfare in general and their wellbeing in life. If it were up to the game developers the children could stay up all night playing.... There is also a story that in some of the Eastern countries, kids are used for child-labour.... just to play all night long to achieve the goal of earning some item in the game that requires a lot of gametime. The children destroy themselves all night(s in row) for the sake of the company which then sells the item to some insanes on EBay who did nothing but earn some money from a regular job and play.... Not a reason not to play the game yourself, but think that the WOW company really only benefits of the addictive value of the game. Soon they will change and think of wellbeing issues. In the mean time, parents... Be ALERT and use the Parental Control option(which can be circumvented by the way, so just use a lock on your computer). Good luck kids. And have (safe) fun.--- "Naturalness is the Basis of effectiveness. If one poses to be something else, one loses the charm of naturalness. The result is that one accumulates stress. We do not think of life - we live it. We do not think of ourselves too much. We do not think of others too much. We just behave in a natural way. Don't make moods - wonder what anyone thinks of us. We do not live life on the remarks of others. What others think of us is not our concern - it is their concern. It is important only that we radiate life. Every individual must be a joy to himself, to his family and to his society." - His Divine Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi -

10-12 year olds should be OK with this with proper guidance and supervision
Purely a game of entertainment. No real value - think of it as popcorn. You can eat a lot of it, but it won't give you much nutrition. It is quite delicious, however. :) If your child wants to play, get two accounts and play WITH them or watch as they play. I would not let a child play without supervision, however. It's a chat fest in there.

Common Sense what are you talking about this is fine for 11 and up!!!!
Don't listen to common sense. It is very appropriate for 11 and up. There is some violence with very little blood. You can drink and get drunk if you drink to much. One thing common sense is right about is that teamwork is very important. There is a bad language filter and parental controls to say what times you can play each day. This is a very good,(addicting though), very fun game.

This game is really cool!
This is the best game I've ever played. It beats things like Sims, the best-selling game ever, and stupid stuff like Oval Office. Here's why: World of Warcraft is something you can play with other people. I have friends at school (yeah all boys except for me) that play and we can all play together. I can also play with my family. Even my little brother who's ten loves the game. It's also very addicting. There's never an end to the game. When you reach the highest level, you can fight other players or go on big raids. The only bad things are that you can drink (not huge) and that people curse. There's a language filter if you really want it. Now if they had a highlight for awesomest game ever...

Amazing game, just watch your kids play time
World of Warcraft is an incredibly fun game in which you can play with people from all around the world through the internet. There is tons to do and is a lot of fun. Blood is minimal, but still visible when certain moves are used. Nevertheless, its still good. Parents should talk to their kids about online safety before playing this game because you have to oppertunity to play and talk with other real people. Another issue is that it's $15 a month. But its VERY VERY fun. If your kid pays for it, I see no need to worry. One last thins, this game is ADDICTIVE! Keep an eye on your childs play time. I remember me going on to play for an hour, but then spending 12 hours in front of the computer... Blizzard has implemented parental controls though, where parents can limit the childs play time. I do recommend that parents let their child play this though, as long as they monitor them. This can be an incredibly fun way to learn about teamwork and even economy! There is a virtual "auction house" in which you can buy and sell items. And lastly, if your child has friends that already play this game, I recommend you let him play. It's a great way to socialize with friends and build relationships while learning how to rely on one another.

Perfect Game
You can play the game however you want, which is why I love it. Sometimes the messages aren't always the best, but they have a word filter. It's easy to play because once you create a character it tells you how to move, talk, talk to NPCs (Non-player characters), eat, cast spells, and so on. Safety is no an issue as long as you teach your kids not to give out info.

Not the Best Game in the World, But Definitely Fun
I didn't actually create an account, but I played it at a friend's house. It was really fun, but even in the 45 minutes that I played it, there were parental warnings just about everywhere. This is a very iffy game. There is obviously much fighting and violence in it (hence the word "warcraft"), some language ("damn and "crap), and mild sexual innuendos and slurs. Violence includes blood spewing / spattering (however you may say it) at some instances and sexual content is limited to mildly suggestive and iffy remarks. This game was a very good way to spend time and I look forward to playing it again soon.

Warcraft 15 years still going strong.
Even though I'm 14 years old I have been playing since Warcraft: Humans and Orcs and the game has really improved. I feel that people who didn't play Warcraft 3 should not play as Shamen since they have no idea what they were. One of the best RPG series of our time. The one thing I don't like is that after you hit level 20-25 it starts to be annoying to level your character anymore which is why I don't have a level 70 with like 10 level 50's. Also, if your not careful WoW (abbreviation) could take over your life.

Good game from what i have seen.
I have just been doing the trial, but seems to be a good game. If a kid is gonna play it, they really need a time limit. Don't use the parental controls one though, just have them use a kitchen timer. I would suggest 45 minutes a day and then they have to ask to have more time. It's a good way to have fun, and yet not get addicted like so many people do. Overall it's a fun game from what I have seen. It has a good economic system. I like it so far. I give it 4 star because while its fun, leveling can get annoying because it takes so long when you get to 20+
