Well, these times considering other violent things parents purchase for kids like, Gears of War, my brother bought this for his 10 year old son and I think that it was a bad idea. I would give it to a child who understood that the main character didn't exist and if it did don't take he/she up to be role model.
Ok, first off, everyone needs to know that this game is completly awesome. People need to know that there is hardly any blood at all(althogh, to be perfectly honest, I only ever played this on a non-gaming computer [I didn't have an xbox at the time]so my computer might not have showed it). It is also important to know that if your kids don't grasp the injustices of the crusaders, they will after they play this. It has good role models I guess. You actually play as two people, Desmond Miles and Altair. Desmond Miles is taken in to this corporation to find more about Altair. Altair is an Assassin who kills one to save the lives of many (this goes in deeper as the game progresses). The game controls are very easy to master. It is a lot like an obstical course. Hope This Helps!
Why is it always the language? if it weren't for language and sexual conetent, most games would be Teen and under! Jerks. That is why my parents let me have many games.
Firstly im annoyed that commonsensemedia even tried saying its to violent because its really not. You can turn the blood off any way, another positive aspect of this game that CSM fail to state. Its a bit like saying a band swears to much when there's a non-swearing album which the reviewer fails to mention about. Then theres the "swearing"....
Theres about 2 F-bombs in the entire game and a scattering of a**'s and d**b's. Kids here more offensive language per day at school.
I think any teen can easily handle it.
This is a great game despite the title. the title makes the game seem gory and like something yuo dont want to buy-thats why it took alot of convincing to get my STICT parents to buy this. Keep in mind this game is not at all worse thewan halo or call or duty. Plot-you are kid-napped by people that strap you into a machine(called the anamus) and you re-live the adventures of Altiar-your assassin ansestor threw memories. the people that kidnapped you want a spicifoc memory.Violence-you are a assassin so violence is ecspected. you roam the streets of damascus, jurusalm, acre and others killing 9 leaders of the crusades. you also need to kill guards in order to survive. to kill someone you can use throwing knives, short and long swords and hidden blades. when you kill someone a smell "mist" of blood comes out but the blood can be turned off. the only really violent things in this game are the "cut scenes" (this is the part of the game were yuo have gathered enough info about your target to kill him) right befor you can kill him a "movie/scene" comes on and it shows your target commiting a evil act(some can be quite graphic) such as(this is the worst and first one) a man stabbing anouther man over and over again in the street. Sexual content- NONE AT ALL Language- he*l and da*n are used about 15 times through-out the whole game. also, your kidd-nappers(they are scientists working for a HUGE company) use the f-word once and i believe the s-word once or twice but your kid should know those words and know not to use them. this game is pretty historicly accurate. its is SUPER fun to play if you like role-playing or mideival set games. hope this helped! please buy it!
Good game there is a lot of killing. Because your an assassin but you try to save the world from the templars. Overall the game is just about as bad as a T rated game.
Good for 13+ (Teens and up) Not good for 12- (tweens and under)
Good games, I myself (a 13 year old) found it okay for my age group. A little bit of blood, and the language is nothing worse than we hear in 5 minutes during school
What is with the terribly misacurate ratings on this website?
I've gotta say that this game is really fun... for a while. CommonSenceMedia WAYYYY over rates it (and many other games) though! There is little blood and it can easily be turned off from the options menu. Also there isn't much swearing, and if you turn off subtitles especially than you can't hear a thing. CommonSenceMedia clearly juged this game without touching any of the filters and had a 5 year old playing, because this game is NOT a "No kids" game. I would reccomend buying this, seeing as it's 20 bucks at Target, but if you liked this game DEFINATLY buy Assassins Creed II. This game is pretty repetitive though, but just free running is really fun. Anyways pick this game up, either buy or rent it, but if you enjoyed it PLEASE check out the sequel.
I bought this game and was really excited to play it. I played it for about a week and noticed it really wasnt fun anymore, it was basicly just spying and killing. I'm sad to say i never finished the game, i got bored and sold it. I did like how you can turn off blood (there wasnt much anyway). So i do remember some minor swearing. But i never heard any f-words
I got this game for my birthday and I have enjoyed it. I had to beg and beg for this game because my dad questioned the amount of violence. IT'S NOT THAT BAD. there aren't any guns, it's all sword and knife play(including hidden blades.) You only kill CRUSADERS (bad dudes) and assassinate certain people (bad, evil people) on certain missions. There is a great and some what educational story line. It's fine and I highly recommend it as a toned down M.
A great game, although some levels can get quite repetitive. There is minimal blood, as most of your kills are doen sneakily, and the point is to not leave evidence. Now, I'll admit. There is SOME violence. What did you expect? It's a video game about an assassin! However, when you turn off the blood, the only problem should be swearing- and that's not even a problem. The characters might say d*** or b***ard once or twice, but that's nothing compared to what kids hear in high school on an everyday basis. Also, most of the swearing is in italian, so just turn off the subtitles and you'll be fine The one big reason swearing might be an issue is the F-word. It appears at the very end of the game, during the final story cutscene. If you don't want your child to hear that, MUTE THE VOLUME. The last reason for the game is education. Assassins Creed does a wonderful job of replicating cities, clothing, and speech from the time of the crusades. Your targets are actual people who disappeared around that time, and you learn a lot about the crusades. All in all, a very good game.
