The Fairly Odd Parents: Breakin' Da Rules (Windows)

THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS -- BREAKIN' DA RULES begins as Timmy is piled high with homework and wishing that it would all disappear. Luckily for Timmy, he has his own Fairy God Parents who grant his wish. Unfortunately, due to a nefarious trick by the evil Juandissimo, when his schoolbooks disappear, so does "Da Rules" book. Timmy accepts a dangerous mission to recover "Da Rules" book that, if in the wrong hands, could be dangerous.

The first mission, and perhaps the most disgusting, is a journey through the "space-time continuum" into Vicky's nose: Timmy and his nose helicopter need to fly around giant "snot bubbles" while collecting magic dust and fighting off "boogers." The controls are very simple as the directional keys control the helicopter and the CTRL button fires booger dispersing ammunition. Timmy collects his first Good Deed Badge and moves on to the next mission, a downhill skiing course, and then an activity in which he dodges electric eels and swimming fish, and so on.

If there were any redeeming quality to this game, it would be that fans of the cartoon get to see their favorite characters in wacky situations without having to turn on the television or wait for the show. But for children who like varied activities and challenging situations, this game will not satisfy their needs.

The developers decided to use the cheapest and least efficient technology available to create the game. It's quite obvious, from the choppy opening animation through to the unimaginative gameplay that THQ wanted to get a game based on the popular cartoon on the shelves as quickly as possible. Redundancy and lack of ingenuity pervades all 11 levels of the game and will have most children (and even adults) eager to turn off the computer before level 3 can be completed.
