my 6 year old brother has more commen sense than commen sense.
at the beggining of the review, it said that you must use force to save humanity from the aliens. HOW ELSE ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO DO IT! DEMOCRATIC DISSCUSION?
Whhat else are you supposed to do when aliens are trying to commit genocide on the human race, take it with a (soon to be blown off) grin? That being said, this game probably does deserve an M rating. It is a VERY tame M, but the violence and blood from both humans and aliens is just enough where the ame doesn't seem appropriate for a T rating. Plus, the aliens are somewhat intimidating themselves, and the pure aggretion shown from characters is a little much. The story is very well done though, and graphics are amazing. If your kid is relativly mature, this game shouldn't be too much of a worry. Compared the Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty, this game is nothing. It is more of a fantasy adventure. The violence is in no way the main point of the game, and it's too fast moving to be a prevelant factor anyways. It's a great game, legendary for the Xbox 360, and violence shouldn't be a huge turn-off for this game.
Halo 3 is a very good game. It's not very tactical, but it's pretty easy to play. You'll get more and more skilled using the various weapons like grenades, rifles, shotguns, and energy swords. The blood is virtually invisible, it's so hard to see, you won't notice it. The story is much more easier to follow, and the plot and music track are no less than "epic". It can be hard at times, but the only truly thing you might want to consider is the virus called the Flood. It assimilates Brutes and humans into its own troops that attack you, animating corpses or injecting malignant proteins into friendly or enemy troops. The graphical quality isn't to high on characters, so the strange cancerous growths aren't to scary. When they are destroyed, some limbs may roll around, possibly human, but the graphics are so poor on Flood, it's pretty much a joke. The multiplayer action is as good as its predecessors and the new Forge mode allows you to edit preexisting maps. A Cinema mode also allows you to view your games in a video player like mode with free camera and speed control options. Campaign, Multiplayer, and Forge Sessions can all be viewed in Cinema. If you like to blast through troops with exotic weapons and save people while you're at it, this is for you.
Seriously; Common sense media never looks at their games they rate. I came here mostly to correct you. Like protective parent said, the claim that humans never tried peacful means with the covenant is false. On reach, they tried to send spartans to make a treaty, but apparently the covenant mindlessly follow 'Gods' that say humans should die. Next, the only noticable blood/gore is shooting someone without shields up close (by then you'd beat them down anyways, which has no blood), or the flood, which I'm surprised you didn't mention. I'll admit they freaked me out for a bit, but I got over it. And the flood is programmed to kill, so no peaceful options there either. Overall, I played this with my eight year old cousin without problem. Just try to skip the flood for the younger ones even though they're a vital part of the story.
Parents, I am a adolescent gamer. I am here to share my thoughts on Halo 3. First, Halo 3 is violent. Shooting is present throughout the entire game. But the violence is the worst aspect. Gore is seldom seen. Only the Covenant and the Flood (the game's two alien antagonists), spill gore. This is blue or brown. Second, Halo 3's story doesn't promote violence. Swearing isn't much of big problem either. It seldom occurs.
I love this game. I absolutly disagree with rating this game "M". It really should be "T". Sure, there's blue and green alien blood, some human blood, some swearing, but that's the extent of it. This is a really fun game if you are in the right age to play it.
Why: He failed to mention the flood, which is the most violent feature of the game. The Flood is basically these alein zombies. You have tiny creatures that take over, live and dead, bodies. So yea it counts as zombies. They can fall apart when you kill (or beat up their corpse) them. And you can shoot their hand off and the Flood will still come at you. But it's zombies. When you have zombies in a game you are guaranteed to see goer. And they do not look anywhere near as much like humans as you are probably thinking right now. And his complaint on violence to solve. Well what else are you suppose to do!? I noticed one of the reveiws said they attempted a treaty but the Profits didn't care. The Covenant want you DEAD no matter what. You do what you must do to survive. Also you are going to die if you try to shoot humans in the campaign. You do shoot humans in multiplayer, but they every inch of their body is covered in armor. Halo 3 is gory when it comes to the Flood, but it's not that bad.
I am 10 and very mature for my age. I think Halo 3 is fine for 10 and up as long as they can understand that killing is wrong. There is a little bad language, but not enough to influnce kids.
Good game, very violent, bloody (purple or green alien liquid blood, and red smears from dead humans on ground) and gory. Not as much as other FPS's though. The only gore is the zombie-like creatures that attack you and the aliens. Some swearing, no f bombs though. Under "What parents need to know" it says you shoot humans. You do NOT shoot humans in the story mode. In multiplayer, you compete with others in a death match against each other, where you do shoot humans. Players use fully automatic rifles, 3x burst rifles, high-powered pistols, shotguns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, high RoF turrets, knives, plasma-based weapons, as well as energy swords.
You people are too overprotective. Just tell your kids not to swear, and punish them if they do. Swearing is not bad for kids if they don't know what the words mean. My brother plays this game, and he has never sworn, has never been scared or disgusted by the game, and has never became violent. (He does get upset and throw tantrums, but he's always done that, since he was two). I think kids shouldnt play multiplayer untill they are around ten, but that is just because there is a lot more swearing online. The "blood" loogs like paint, and is green and blue.
This would be a good game if a 9 or ten year old kid wanted to get a M rated game. They barely swear and when they do you can barely hear it. Also, you are shooting evil aliens so thats better than shooting real people. When you kill an alien, you cannot see any blood.
Halo is a great game. I think it is outrageous that it is M for mature because their is a little cursing (unless you are on xbox live) and the alien blood is PURPLE big deal. You are killing aliens that are trying to take over the galaxy so who cares about purple blood. But honestly if you have xbox live your kid shouldn't play it because he will encounter a 11 year old kid cursing you off in a high pitched voice which is really annoying.
I don't know how anybody could rate this game M. The blood isn't bad at all. I have seen worse in the T call of duty games. The cursing in those are also worse. It's a mystery to me how this game got rated M.
This game is pure awesome. Big explosions, cool guns, and amazing, lushly next gen graphics. The violence is not that bad especially as you are fighting aliens and (in multiplayer) robotic men in shiny suits. I would never say 17+! more like 11+
