Opinion from a older adult
This is a great story. It has mystery, suspense, and everything a story about a serial killer should have.
I was confused at first if this was based at a University campus, or a private high school campus. With all the sex, drugs, and violence I was just confused at first. The conclusion is, that it is at a private high school.
Most of my friends are grandparents and do not play video games so when I am asked what age video games are appropriate for it would be entirely up to whoever I am talking with.
I would think young people 18+, perhaps kids younger who are mature for their age? Though I ran into grade school kids when I played GTA (grand theft auto), so my opinion might be conservative.
Parents concerned should play the first episode themselves, or some of it. Look on the internet for whatever video game and "gameplay", after. Watch someone play the game?
I thought it was a great game, but again I am an older adult.

Hmm…
Amazing game but…
1: a ton of swearing.
2: not the best influence
3: Totally depends on your kid. If your kids cant handle swearing death etc no way dude. My kids are totally fine with it and they are 12 and 14.
BUT there is some educational value. Like why you shouldn't do drugs and showing what abuse can be like and shows they can be going through something. Shows the harsh reality of the world and I think kids need to figure that out.

Great Game
Really good game I recommend it for adults only because of language, violence, drinking, smoking and other stuff.
Max Caulfield and her friend Chloe Price go on a dangerous adventure to try and find Rachel Amber who goes missing on April 22nd, 2013.

Not for young kids, Great for Teenagers and Older!
This game is absolutely great! I will split my thoughts into three sections.
1. The Good
Life is strange follows Maxine (Max) in her senior year of high school. The game really focuses on the consequences of your choices and causes the player to really think about the implications of, for example, reporting a violent person to the principal versus keeping quiet about it. Another example: Comforting a bully versus making fun of her.
What would you choose? How would this effect your relationship with these people in the future? These are questions asked many, many times in the story.
The story itself is amazing, and the characters well written. There is death... but unlike other games that trivialize death and violence, this game brings a morbid tone to death. Unlike other games, you do not want to hurt anyone. You do not want to be violent. Max is not simply written that way; and when someone dies, you feel hollow.
2. The Bad
This game has a lot of profanity and drug references. Blackwell Academy, the high school of the story, is not a good role model for a school.
There is one scene where Max and her best friend, Chloe, break into the school. They spend a little time in the pool in their underwear. Afterward, they evade the school security force before fleeing into the night. This is just one example of bad school behavior.
3. The Ugly
The games climax includes kidnapping and physical assault. There is a suicide attempt in the middle of the story. There are many moments in the game's last chapters that are filled with peril. There are many moments that Max must sacrifice someone for the good of someone else. I don't think I need to talk more about this. The game does get heavy at times.
My verdict
Life is strange is a great game for teenagers in Highschool and for those who are older. Due to the maturity of the heavy topics discussed within the games, you might want to consider how mature your child is before handing them this game if your child is not in high school.
Give the game a run yourself. I highly recommend it!

lovely!!!
i played this game when i was 13-14. i’ve replayed it since than as well. it does have some mature themes such as drug use, alcohol, suicide. the developers of this game wanted to cater to high school aged teens. even in middle school, kids will experience this stuff, maybe not to the extent that this game portrays it. the message is good, the soundtrack is amazing. this game is genuinely the only one i’ve played that made me cry. still to this day it gets me emotional even though i’ve played it countless times. personally, if you don’t trust that it’s not age appropriate for your kid, i think it’s a great family game. it’s very story based and there’s even some topics that your kids could ask questions about. it leaves a lot of room for discussion.

A Story Driven Game Where Your Choices Have Massive Dramatic Consequences
This game is AWESOME! I freaking loved the story, the characters and everything in between!
I was not even sure If I would like Life Is Strange at first because I typically play games like Modern Warfare or FPS games. Life Is Strange is on the other end of the spectrum. I picked up the free digital copy of the first episode "Chrysalis" from Gamepass for X1and quickly I was hooked so I bought the complete season.
The developers did a perfect job with creating the game in a way that completely drowns the user in the story and the story demands really intense emotions from the player. The player can interact with a lot of the environment and the NPCs " Non Playable Characters "which influence the story in dramatic ways. Who you do and do not talk to can seriously change the story up.
The player is confronted with tense situations that call for the player to make tough decisions that can lead to massive consequences and it is recommended that every player use their critical thinking skills.
There were many times I found myself second guessing the decisions i had made and many times found myself anxious about what choices I made. Sometimes I wanted to completely start over but went forth with the decisions I made just to see it all playout
The replay value of this game is really good since the player can replay the game to work towards different outcomes and make different decisions for a different conclusion
The only thing that I really did not like a lot about the game were some of the liberal leaning views that were expressed in the game. At the time in the game these liberally leaning view points painted conservative leaning folks in a darker light. For example the game touches on Gun Control and painted responsible gun owners negatively. I almost stopped playing it there. I was able to get over these controversial political view points to enjoy the game as the developers did not spend to much time expressing on these topics.
I would definitely recommend this game to about almost everyone even if your favorite games are horrors, FPS or anything in between. I will enjoy playing it once over again and again to see all outcomes.
I found the game late after release and usually do not like doing reviews but this game was so good, different and unique that I just had to get on here to express how much I really enjoyed this game !
Thanks

Quite mature actually
This game is a PEGI 16 and is honestly more mature than most of the 18 rated games my son has played (granted he can’t play GTA or anything like that). So I let my 12 year old play this, seeing only drugs and swearing I decided he could deal with it, and he did, but generally he seems more mature than other kids his age. Despite what reviews tell you, there is some call of duty-level violence here, but it’s very infrequent. Mainly involving 2 instances of someone getting shot and 1 instance of a dog getting shot. There is a frequent use of very bad language and one use of c-nt, which is what stopped me letting my daughter watch it (I didn’t know about the violence, must’ve missed it). The drug use is mild, the sex talk is quite extreme but nothing like the inbetweeners or anything, should be ok for a 12 year old. But the themes are very mature

No
This game is just DUMB. The characters are all bad people, and usually everything you do ends up being wrong, so you have to rewind time, but if you rewind to much, you get knocked unconscious and... there is a ton of swearing, like, a ton, and there is also a lot of violence and sex. Not for kids. Find something else.
