Basically I like the game, it's kinda hard to get used to the controlls but overall its a 5/5 No blood, if any, very little. If you're getting hurt there will be a red area that indicates where you're being harmed from. Basically you're a "runner" They do Parkour and Free-Running from building to building. You're goal is to grab packages from one place to another without dying or getting caught by the enemy. Honestly if you're iffy about this game. Download the Demo on the PS3. It teaches you what you're basically going to do. It involves real Parkour/Free-Running stunts and actions professionals use. Search up Parkour on youtube or Google if you still don't understand what this game is about.
It earned its teen rating by having alot of s words in there and when you shoot the enemy like said above for watch out for violence you get a almost cartoon blood when shooting an enemy but you use your fists and feet more than a gun. Great game though
Definetely worth getting, and the violence is AN ILLUSION.
If you are looking for a first person shooter, that isn't actually very violent, then there would be two games that I would suggest-Portal and Mirror's Edge.
The game is big, expansive, and cheap(at least for the PC[20$!]). The story is so good it could even be put into a movie!
The gameplay is unique, and even though there is violence, the least of it is what Faith dishes out(at least while you're playing as her.)Most of it is by The Blues and some other characters.
Another thing that I found saddening is that the only blood appears in cutscenes,(seeing people that were murdered or be murder) and not when you actually shoot people. But, when you are shot, a red splat(you guessed it)appearson the screen where you just were shot.
The only other violence that I would say is that when Faith gets killed in a certain manner, she falls on the ground, lifts up her hand, then drops it.
The REAL reason that this game is rated T is because of all of the SWEARING. Yes, ALL of the SWEARING. Da-n, Sh-t, A-s, Hell, plus some Screwed and others that I am forgetting.
However, the worst part would be that most of the characters swear.
Overall, this game is one to buy. Oh yeah-If you can, get it for the Xbox or PS3, cause physics don't work on the PC.
I purchased this game on my 12th birthday, and found it to be fantastic. The great detail in visuals, combined with the quality of sound and realist feel of the gameplay really enhance the game. The language definitely is not an issue. There is only one case when the word S**t is heard, and several minor cases where d**n, and a** are heard. The violence is not bad at all, though there are cases where police and guards are shooting at you, and you do have to defeat several enemies (with either hand-to-hand combat or firepower) the blood is not an issue. There is only one case in the game were, for a moment, minor gore can be seen when you arrive at the site of a level, in a cutscene. You play as a heroic female trying to free her city from a corrupt government, but surprisingly, the game environment is not dark or "evil" seeming in any way. The gameplay itself is absolutely amazing. The main character is a freerunner, and most of the game you are moving across buildings, jumping from rooftops, and running on walls in a very realistic, Parkour-like fashion. The intricate level design, excellent voice acting, and amazing gameplay make this game one of the best game out there. I would highly recommend this game to anyone, it is great.
Maybe there is some swear words but this game is one of a kind, great graphics and brilliant gameplay, also, the main charictor (sorry if i spelt that wrong) faith is a great rolemodel for yound girls to stick up for what they thing is good, but dont try theese stunts at home!!! 12+
Mirror's Edge is an awesome new take on the first-person genre. The game is played from the first-person perspective, but is not a shooter. The game contains some violence, mostly melee where you kick and punch opponents. However, the game does allow you to disarm opponents or pick up a fallen enemies gun. The gunplay though is not an integral part of the game and, hence, is not very fluid. The game also rewards you if you can manage to play through the entire story without using a gun. While this is hard, it can be done, it just requires a bit of forethought. There is some language in the game, with a dozen or so instance of s--t, d--n etc. But no really foul language.
The game is difficult and requires a lot of trial-and-error to master things. However, frequent checkpoints make this a bit more bearable.
One last thing i want to set straight is that the game focuses on Parkour (not free-running). Parkour is similar to free-running except it expels useless show-off stunts in favour of getting to your destination asap. Parkour is the sport of getting from A to B as quickly as possible. Parkour is a French sport founded by David Belle. " Parkour is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, using only their bodies. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, swinging and wall scaling are employed." (Wikipedia). This is what Mirror's Edge focuses on, making it a unique and exciting game.
Overall one of the best games around and a must-have for Parkour fans.
A mix of amazing graphics, a "perfect" world, and a Japanese art called "Parkour" bring a new type of gaming experience. Jump from building to building in a race to save the already "perfect" world...
Love it. Its good for kids because its a high action game about a heroine who has to save her sister. And, you are actually given an achivement/trophy if you dont use the gun.
The lauguage is s**t but other than that its a good game, hardly any blood (only when you get shot) and no gore at all i recomend this game as a 12+ as it has some blood and swearing. BUY THIS GAME!!!
Mirror's edge developer DICE really pulled out all the strings on this game. The graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay is seamless. Just watch out for the occasional four letter word and your good
Brilliant~Not TOO Violent~Beautiful Graphics~Parkour (Not Free-Running)
Great for kids over the age of 9 (who have been raised properly that is, e.g. know that the word "sh*t" isn't as big a deal as it's made out to be and that violence is okay in video games or cinema, but not IRL). But for clarification, THIS IS NOT FREE-RUNNING, IT IS PARKOUR. Free-Running is based on doing cool Parkour-like tricks, while Parkour itself is based on getting from A to B in the fastest way possible, no tricks are added for the sake of adding tricks. Brilliant game, beautiful graphics and a great way to get children under 13 off of GTA or other games like that (which by the record is fine for any 12-year-old smart and mature enough to handle it, if your kids can't handle the themes of GTA than that's your fault as a parent).
Mirror's Edge is nothing like any other game. Putting the player in the shoes of a Free Runner gives the player a different perspective on the gaming world. It is challenging and provides a good role model with the main character, Faith. I recommend this game to any gamer who is looking for a challenge.
A surprisingly appropriate game, given it's rating.
there are guns and minimal blood, but you are mostly encouraged to run away from combat.
there is mild language occasionly, but as long as you are OK with your child being exposed to that, it's abseloutely fine.
I dont have kids but swearing is not bad I mean compared to Section8 Predjudice but parkour is made exiting in battle and real parkour moves makes me exited for when I start my classes when I`m 13
My sister's favorite X360 game by far. I honestly believe that it's not as good, because it's always masking an unbelievable amount of trial and error, and the momentum always gets cut short by cramped and difficult puzzles. It also has its share of potty-mouthing and action ranging from guns to fighting, but it may have some benefits for older ages. You're likely to spend more time dying than enjoying the game.
