What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is an action game that is part of the vast Star Wars merchandising universe. The game involves killing hundreds of humans and aliens, and destroying vehicles and robots with a range of weapons. Although the action is intense, there is no blood or gore. Parents should also be aware that the game is geared for online play, so kids who take the game online with headsets could hear coarse language there.

  • Plenty of shooting and destruction with an array of sci-fi weapons, but no blood.

What's it about?

In STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II story mode, players become storm troopers in the 501st division, an elite group of soldiers eventually known as Vader's Fist, fighting through many major battles of the Star Wars films. Players defend positions, capture bases from the opposition, and carry objects from one base to another. In Galaxy Conquest mode, players control a fleet of Empire or Rebel troops as they fight for control of planets in a star system. Capturing planets and creating more units adds an element of strategy missing from the heavy firefights of the story mode.

Is it any good?

The game is pretty much gore-free, even though most of the action involves killing people and blowing stuff up. There is violence aplenty and destruction is delivered in many forms (lasers, grenades, bullets, rockets, tanks, etc.), but there is no blood.

The game really seems designed for online multiplayer: Battlefront II supports 24-player matches on the PlayStation 2, 32-player matches on Xbox, and up to 64 on a computer. The multiplayer action is heavy on team-based modes in which one side must overrun the territory controlled by another, but the game also has the old standbys like capture-the-flag and deathmatch. Ultimately, there isn't much story here, and while the controls are relatively simple, so is the action. There's a lot more button-mashing than careful, controlled fighting and maneuvering, and fighting grows repetitive.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about marketing games based on popular movies. Are kids more likely to want to play games that are based on movies they like? Are the games better when they are based on familiar franchises? Families may also want to talk about responsible behavior in online communities.

It is a great game but you should watch your kids play it a few times.
I think that Starwars Battlefront is a great game that entertains you very well but it is a little to violent for kids 9 and under and probobly 10 year olds should not play it I am a ten year old and am one of the kids that gets to play it. You should know your ten year old and if they are kinda to violent or listen to games and take them as role modules then this is not the right game for them the thing is it is just like the starwars movie battles but it is just non stop fighting and killing people and you should always remember cammanding a war is a lot different then watching one.

Pretty Good, Great Graphics, Death may Occur (about 20 times)
This is overall a great shooter. But if you dont like frustrating games, get Thomas and Friends: Trouble on the Tracks- that alto be REAL EASY for U. Seriously, though, it takes 20 shots(Depending on the weapon ya got- Sniper rifles take about 2)to kill your enemy. Then you die after about 4 shots. Simple. You go into a battle and kill about 2 guys and then 2 guys kill you. Star Wars fans will love, Thomas the Train fans will hate. **** The violence is about E-E10 level because you shoot with lasers and it takes a while to kill someone. The Language is PG level, though i've seen G movies with worse. If U like the word D--M then play SPACE CTF 1 Flag with the republic. Every time the CIS gets a point, the Clones say "Another point for the CIS, D--M!! D--M is also used properly in Rise of the Empire- Mustafar(cut scene beginning) You'll also here minor Battlefield language(Hoth, especially). Great gift for the Star Wars dude who is between the ages of 11 and 16. :)

Keep It Black & White
I think my biggest concern with the game is that SW:BF2 tends to be morally neutral in terms of good vs. evil. You can play as any character in the SW saga that saw combat, including sith lords, the arch-villains. Some may be fine with that. Others, like me, view it as a morality play, where the evil is to be despised and eschewed. You can't do that and act as one of the evil characters to oppose the good. Someone that is over 12 should be able to understand the differences between good and evil and reasonably shift between one side and the other without blurring the lines.

Freaky game- I HATE!!!!!!!!
I hate this game because it is a scary war thingy that freaks me out and people are being shot and stuff is blowing up and they say bad stuff (not swear words though) like "stay dead." My 10-year li'l bro plays this every one or two weeks and I think he shouldn't. End of story.

It is good
If I could choose a rating between Early Childhood and Teen, Battlefront 2 would be rated it. It is an awesome game and everyone that can use a PC/Console schould have this game.

Great game, but a bit violent for young kids
This is a good game. I think it would be ok for younger kids to play as long as there is a bit of a explanation by parents first. (ok kid, were gonna let u play it, but they use some words that we don't want u to use.) It is fun and me and my mom play together all the time. It is pretty violent (for instance getting blown across the screen when hit by rocket launcher or similar weopon.) I would never give this to someone under the age of 12 without parent supervision.

Amazing.
Excellent game! it is so good, they should make a ps3 sequel. There is some violence though, probably the same frequency and intemsity level as attack of the clones. The is also a very infrequent d*mn and h*ll
