Parents need to know that Feed Me! - Pencilbot Preschool is a fun and colorful learning game for kids under five, with a fantastic gimmick -- you "feed" your answers to the adorable monster. The free app is just a sampler; parents can upgrade from the free version with an in-app purchase, or they can buy their preferred language separately. There are multiple versions of Feed Me! in different languages -- be sure to choose the correct one. The app is only compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch fourth generation, and iPad.
Kids can learn a full range of reading and math skills as they feed correct answers to the purple monster. The app tests pre-reading skills like the alphabet, letter sounds, and rhyming, as well as reading skills like segmenting and sight words. It tests math skills like shapes, time, counting, sorting, and addition and subtraction. Incorrectly answered questions cycle through until correctly answered. Feed Me! - PencilBot Preschool spans several years' worth of learning and a broad range of skills.
Feed Me! quizzes kids on a huge variety of skills, from the alphabet and phonics to shapes and counting to rhyming and time. Kids choose a book from the shelf to be tested on, or choose "all" for a comprehensive test, and then feed the right answers to a purple monster. The monster thinks of what he wants to eat, which kids see in a thought bubble, and he is happy when kids feed him the right answers. He frowns or his tummy turns green when a kid feeds him a wrong answer.
FEED ME! - PENCILBOT PRESCHOOL gives kids an adorable pet monster to play with. He's hungry, but he only wants to eat correct answers. As basic preschool questions pop up, kids drag the appropriate answer to the monster's mouth for him to chow down on. It's great fun. Collecting correct answers will also earn funny and cute awards for a virtual trophy room that can be accessed on the app's homepage. Additional question packs cost 99¢ each, but can contain up to 175 new questions and, honestly, seem worth the money.

Kids will learn through the assessment process. The object is to feed the monster the right answer, but kids can learn as they figure that out. Tapping the question bubble or answer choices identifies each item. For example, when the monster is thinking of a green rectangle, kids see the green rectangle and hear the words "green rectangle," and when they tap each answer choice, they hear those shapes and colors identified. The phonics section is not as instructional, though, offering only the letters and not the sounds of blends like "ch."
