Parents need to know that iLearn Solar System HD: Making Science Fun is an educational app designed to teach kids in grades 4 to 6 more about the solar system -- although some incorrect grammar dilutes the app's learning value. Kids can explore a 3-D solar system by rotating and zooming in on different planets, and tapping them to receive interesting facts about each. Kids can also take a quiz to test what they've learned, and earn stickers for correct answers. The app is narrated by a female astronaut, but the stilted delivery is distracting.
Kids can learn facts including how each planet got its name, what the terrain is like, its number of moons, and so on with ILEARN SOLAR SYSTEM HD. However, the app's production values aren't up to par with some other similarly priced educational apps. The interface could use some work. (Users might be confused, for example, about why they have to press a separate button to make push-pins appear on the planets before they can be tapped on). The narrator speaks with a stilted diction that is distracting, and there are some awkward sentences along with outright errors, like "Sun is one of the many many stars in space, is a huge glowing ball of gas." With so many other educational apps out there with more polish, it's probably best to give this one a pass.
