Parents need to know that Kurt Warner's Football 101 is an interactive video lesson about the basic rules and jargon of the sport of football. Information is imparted by both NFL quarterback Warner and an animated football named Qubee. As various team members or parts of the field are explained, kids will be asked to point them out in the illustrations, which make it clear that the information is properly understood. There are "lightning round" quizzes to test kids on what they've learned; kids can pick one of two difficulty levels and will have plenty of time to answer the required number of questions correctly. Up to four kids can save their games and scores.
Lots of little kids with an interest in football may be completely confused by the overload of action they see onscreen during a televised game, but working their way through KURT WARNER'S FOOTBALL 101 should help them sort it all out. The app is divided into four "quarters," each with its own lesson focus: team members, parts of the field, rules of the game, and scoring. There's a lot of info dispersed in each lesson, but it's all explained in a clear and kid-friendly manner, with interactive elements to back it all up. Sure, Qubee is barely animated, but he gets the job done. And the app certainly achieves its goal. Any kid who can nail all the lightning rounds on pro difficulty should have no trouble following the Super Bowl.
