    Good First Scary Movie...

This is a good first scary movie for teens because its not too scary, more like a thriller. And all these people saying that this movie has no plot and it dont make sense, here it is. He dies on the beach. 1408 representes hell, and his daughter is in heaven. Now watch the movie again knowing this.

    Really a dud.

The movie started out with a lot of promise, and exciting spooky buildup. But it doesn't deliver. It just turns weird and "psychological" in a drab way. There's nothign scary or exciting about anything that happens to him in the room. It's like waiting in line for the Tower of Terror ride and ending up with It's a Small World. It's not a bad movie; just disappointing.

    CONFUSED!

THE MOVIE DIDNT GIVE THE MEANING BEHIND IT AT ALL..IT WAS ALL TO TWISTED AND YOU COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHY HE WAS TRAPPED IN THE ROOM...IT NEVER TOLD WHY PEOPLE WERE GETTING KILLED IN THE ROOM..PEOPLE WERE JUST DYING..AND IT NEVER TOLD WHY HE SURVIVED THE ROOM AND WHY HE WAS GOING THROUGH WHAT HE WAS GOING THROUH..THEN THE ENDING WAS AWFUL...IT ENDED BAD! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AFTER HE PLAYED THE VOICE RECORDER OF HIS LITTLE GIRL...BUT IT ENDED LIKE THERE IS GOING TO BE A PART 2 TO THE MOVIE.

    Very good psychological thriller

1408 is a suspencful psychological thriller starring John Cusack, Samual L. Jackson and Mary McCormack. John Cusack is a very underated actor who is very good portraying a depressed man who is greiving over his daughter's death. So he writes books about the paranormal. When he hears that a hotel room is haunted. He goes to check it out. Although warned, he still goes up to the room. Up in the room, he sees things so bizarre that you wouldn't believe it if it was true. But what if it is true? Find out for yourself. 5 out of 5 stars.

    My concerns are:
    • Excessive violence
    • Inappropriate language
    • Drinking, smoking, or drug use

Appropriate for teens and up; awesomely suspenseful!

For a movie based on a Stephen King story, it is not too scary. It is pretty bloody, though. The language used is infrequent: about seven "sh**"s and one "f**k". The man drinks a lot in the film.

A Very Good Psychological Horror Film

The film uses very little blood or gore in order to scare. The evil, yellow tinted hotel room that half the film takes place in becomes creepier and creepier as the film goes on. It truly is one of the best films made in recent years.

Graphic Stephen King ghost story for teens and up.

Parents should know that while this film is entertaining and exciting, it has very graphic violence including implied and partially shown suicides and gruesome injuries. Kids may be upset about the fact that the main character has separated from his wife and lost his daughter due to illness. There is some strong language and themes of smoking and drinking.

    Pretty twisted/spooky thrillride was awesome!

Stephen King is a genius and also the most demented person on the planet to write such a breathtaking and heartpounding story. The movie's content: SEX: Mike flips on the TV and sees the pay-per-view order screen for a series of porn films. A painting shows a woman baring her breast to feed what appears to be a dead child on her lap. LANGUAGE: The f-word knocks once, while the s-word pounds 10 times. Other profanities include four or five uses each of "a--," "h---" and "d--n." "B--ch" and "b--tard" also show up. Jesus and God are both blasphemed, with God's name being mixed four times with the word "d--n." VIOLENCE: We catch quick glimpses of photographs of several blood-splattered dead bodies, along with a close-up of what appears to be someone's throat wound and a woman drowned in the bathtub.Several ghostly specters of previous suicide victims in the room jump out of its window. Mike's hand is smashed in the same window and then scalded by steam. He wraps the bleeding mitt in a cloth, but blood soaks through, streaking walls and furniture. Mike sees a vision of his daughter walking over broken plaster with bleeding feet. Later, he hugs her close to himself, and she dies in his arms and crumbles to ash. Mike is attacked by several ghoulish creatures (he kicks one, and its skull-like head crumbles). While the violence doesn't seem bad, the entire movie is so tense, it spooked even me a little - 'course, that could be because I stay in hotels a lot. I recommend an edited version, such as ClearPlay DVD player (clearplay.com) Watch this movie!

Lets just say it's my favorite movie!

This movie (to me) is not scary at all. The first time you watch it, it makes you jump a little, but nothing terrifying.I love it so much because it takes about two or three viewings to understand it. Then its AWESOME!!! The only bad thing about it is constant alchohol use and mild cursing.

    A Surprisingly Effective Horror Movie

This movie is definitely the first horror flick to watch if you are new to the horror genre. It is ten times better than One Missed Call, and the acting is so much better.

OMG, this was a really good movie

*spoiler alert* 1408 is probably ok for kids ages 13 (at the youngest) and older. It's jam-packed with violence, and bad language is constantly used throughout the film. I'd think this movie would be way too scary for younger kids. It's extremely bloody, the protaganus at one point almost gets chopped in half because of the window and when the protaganus finally gets a chance to see his own kid who died, they crumple up and go all over the floor. Also, this movie has an unpredictable plot, because there would be points when you'd think the movie would be over...and it isn't. Overall, 1408 was awesome!

So amazingly bad! Why is this movie so popular?

Ok, this movie was a total waste of time. It's supposed to be scary. It wasn't scary in anyway. All this crap that happened was so dumb and didn't make sense and was just stupid and nothing was actual scary. And also they also tried to make it like the startling kind of scary too, trying to make you jump but i never even came close to jumping once and OMG it was just so bad!!

    1408

I thougt that this movie was an interesting failure. John Cusack is good, and it's smarter than most horror movies, but it just didn't quite work. It tries to be scary in an abstract and wierd way, sort of like The Shining, but the scares didn't partcularly work. I actually was laughing, just because some of the surreal parts struck me as very funny instead of disturbing. And I also didn't really like this movie's many false endings, after a while I just wanted it to end already. An interesting film, gets an 'A' for effort, but if you're looking for something suspenseful look elsewhere.

1408 is a great psychological horror that mature audiences will love!

For all those wondering, yes, this movie pushes it's PG-13 rating to the limit. There is alot of violence, though most of it is just in your head; plus, there are a couple scenes of drinking and cursing; middle schoolers and up. However, this is a spectacular film that horror fans will love, but torture/gore/porn fans will be disappointed by. Why? Because this movie relies on suspense more than gore, in the true vein of Stephen King! Go check this filck out, seriously!

    i liked it

it shows you why the people died. The room messes with your mind and tells you about bad things you have done. that is why most people killed themselves in some way. the reason why the people died naturally is because the things the room showed the people gave them heart attacks and the on person who died because he drowned it's obvious what happened he drank himself to death. And the one person who doesn't get why he didn't get killed by the room it is clearly explained in the movie. you get the hour replayed until you decide to kill yourself or you get a heart attack and it makes it good since there is no ending.

    LOVED it

I loved this movie, I do recommend it to anyone who likes horror movies. The Language was ok one main F word but thats all i remember. one thing i didnt like was the excessive drinking, when the main charcter became stressed or scared or even bored he would drink witch i feel is not a good idea for kids to view. I the volence is not really one on one it just is mainly talks about what happend to people who stayed in the room, includes pictures. I loved it and i think u should be 13 and up, there are alot of jumpy moments but, it is really good! :]

    More Weird than Scary

This movie really wasn't very scary, it was just weird. I'm usually scared (I jump several times the first time I watched SHAUN of the Dead [it's a comedy]), but this movie really didn't scare me.

    SO SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Unfortunately, not a very good movie. It did have a storyline, but it was very confusing. Many things that happened could have been cut out. Mild sexuality (Cusack almost watches sexy stuff on t.v.) but thats it. Ages 9+ in my opinion.

Hotel room torments Mike mentally not physically

I recently watched this movie expecting to be scared out of my mind. I was wrong. Dont get me wrong this movie isnt for kids under 10, but it really depends on the childs ability to be scared. Anyway on to the movie, Mike Enslin is a emotionally suppressed man whos daughter dies from some kind of illness. After that the afterlife becomes a addiction to him. He hears about the Dolphin Hotel and its notorious room, 1408. After convencing the manager to give him the key, he gets into the elevator up to 1408. On the way there there are some key things you might want to notice before he even steps into the hotel. Anyway, when he gets in nothing really happens for a while until the radio mysteriously turns on. Then the shocks just pour tormently onto Mike's sanity. There are some pretty good twists and they make the actual ROOM seem like a character. I honestly thought that this movie was really cool. There were only a few parts that made me jump, but other then that everything it just phycological (sorry, scholars). This room really knows how to torment a man's sanity.....and is REALLY efective at it. So, in a nut shell. 1408 is not so much a scary movie as a man's struggle to keep is sanity and ultimatly reconnect with himself, find closure and....heh....stay alive.
