What Parents Need to Know

About 50 First Dates

Parents need to know that this movie has gross and crude humor, with strong language for a PG-13 and comments that could be considered homophobic. Humor is drawn from drug use, disability, and injury, all portrayed as grotesque, including a clouded eyeball and a lisp. There are sexual references and situations. The movie includes a tragic car crash and comic violence, including a gross shark bite wound and many, many very hard bonks on the head. One positive note is that diverse characters demonstrate compassion and loyalty.

    My concerns are:
    • Inappropriate sexual content
    • Inappropriate language
    • Negative message

cute comedy ruined by crude sexual humor

Gratuitous crude sexual jokes (e.g., guy licks coconuts he's wearing as drag get-up) and swearing totally cancel out a cute story. [Ditsy blond (i.e. no memory) female stereotype is the least of it's problems.) Who is this movie's target audience?

Raunchy, but sweet comedy for teens.

Parents should know that this warm comedy does contain crude references to drugs and sex. Discussion of "wet dreams," vomit, are abundant and there is off-color potty humor. Language is scattered along the film, but messages of love prevail.

Hilarious, but really not that great content-wise

This movie is one of my favorites, and is hilarious. When watching it, my mom cried with laughter! But there are some things you need to know before letting your kids watch it. First of all, there is TONS of sex and sexual references. Second, there is tons of language, that really shouldn't be in a PG-13 movie. And of course, there are product placements for spam ,the beach boys, and Reese's and smoking/drinking. Older, waaaaay more mature kids will enjoy it. When I first saw it, I didn't get half of it so that is the only way I have seen it.

    =)

It is about a girl named Lucy (Drew Barrymoore) who got in a car and lost her memory and thinks every day is the same day. One day she met a man named Henrey (Adam Sandler) who takes a video and she watches it every morning like she's never seen it and she begins to write a diary. Then she has a child and lives on a boat to Alaska and he has a different video. It makes you relize how lucky we are.

Very origoinal, very sweet and very funny romantic comedy teens and parents will love!

This is a very, very, very good movie! it's sweet, funy, and very origional, but there are some issues: 1. mostly comic violince including bonks on the head. 2. Some strong language including pultiple S--t's, as well as A-s, Boobies, Bas--d, the fingier is flashed twice. 3. Quite a bite of sexual content including implied sex, and many sexual jokes. 4. it is implied that people are on drugs, but none are seen. OVerall this is a fantastic movie for teens and their parents.

    Really Good

I don't understand why people don't like this movie. It's actually a great movie that's really funny. Okay, so maybe it's inapropriate but if you're at least 14 you should be able to handle the material the way an adult would. Although this movie wasn't made for kids it is so hilarious. I first saw it when I was 12 and really liked it sooooo.....rent it! It's fun!

    Funny and original.

Our entire family enjoyed this sweet, comical movie--not too over the top for kids and adults will crack up. More along the lines of what PG13 should look like.

    Very funny!

The first time I saw this movie it really made me laugh! There is litte language and a lot of adult material. The only violance is showing a smashed car were a girl gets a head injery.

    Funny little date movie

Wow, did I miss something or am I really that desensized? I really don't remember all the crude sexual stuff the review mentioned. I can think of a few but don't recall it being so bad. Maybe I'm out to lunch but I thought it was funny and cute.

    Funny yet sweet movie!

Some of the humor may be crude but for kids my age it would be considered as 'funny'. It was really sweet that Adam Sandler was taking Drew Barrymore out on dates, even though the next morning she wouldn't remember anything.
