Well, first of all, in response to Seanachai's review, the ending did not mean that there would never be life again. If you noticed, the rain that splattered on the camera had green flecks. That was bacteria, meaning life would start again from scratch. Anyway, the movie. Amazing special effects, scary monsters, stressful situations (in a good way) and most of all, learning to not leave anyone behind. A great movie, but not for kids under the age of ten. There is definitely the stuff of nightmares in there, and gruesome deaths, even if the worst of it is robots. Several of 9's friends die and do not return, which kids may find upsetting. Anyway, that's all I'm going to say, I don't want to spoil the movie. In short, amazing. Take your kids if they're 10 or older.

Dark,short and loud
From K:I saw this movie with my 3 BFFFS about 1 1/2 hours ago. I guess it was good but it was dark loud and kinda disturbing. One of my BFFFS had to give me hand signals to look if there were violence and there was A LOT. From B: I luved this movie! The visual effects were amazing. It was kinda scary though, and it was SO short! But overall it's a great movie. From A: the movie could have gone alot longer. it was also alot like wall-e for the teen set From D: Well, I am 13 years old and I thought this movie was great. I am not scared easily so this movie did not bother me, but it probably will to some people. The effects were mind-blowing, the plot was great but kind of dark and the characters set a good example. Overall, I thought the movie was good but it may be disturbing for some younger kids.

***CONTAINS SPOILERS***At first you see dead bodies, (including that of a baby on a little bike meant for infants, a mother with a child in her lap, and a scientist lying pale on the floor), and the first time the life is sucked out of someone, it is very disturbing and sad. But once you get used to the scariness, the movie is absolutley incredible. It's an ingenious creation. Not for sensitive people. There was an adult woman in the seat next to me who started crying, then a boy who was at least 7 sitting in the front seat, who walked out of the theater saying how awesome the movie was. And he was right, 9 is an awesome movie. You cant miss it.

Very Good Movie, but Complex Themes Could be Over Younger Kids' Heads
It's a very good movie, but if someone is too young to handle post-apocalyptic images or to even understand what post-apocalypse is, they won't fully appreciate this movie. It's very well made but kid's won't appreciate it, though they will probably enjoy it. It's more of an animated movie for teens.

perfect for tweens
It was awesome it combined my two favorite things robotics and animation. The downer for me was the creepy baby head robot and the dead mom and boy. When I watched the preview's I wasn't expecting 9 and the others to be robots. I think thats a possible future because were relying on robots with minds of there own. I think to prevent this from happening we must not rely on robots with minds of there own

A Fascinating Dystopia
Tim Burton has really done it again. His detailed backgrounds fill his dismal world. 9 is a great movie, but not that memorable. I enjoyed watching the struggle of the little robots in their world of machines and darkness, but I don't think I'll watch it again. For one thing, the cartoon was violent enough to earn a PG-13 rating-- and I actually agree with that. There are scenes frightening enough to scare my 10 year old brother, who left the room at least five times for "potty breaks." uh huh. Overall though, I enjoyed this movie. Yeah, it's a little strange, but anyone who is fascinated by brave new worlds will love this movie.

This movie creeped me out when i watched it in theaters. It has great roll models and messages, but intense violence with souls being taken out of the dolls.

Not your little brother's animated movie
The tagline for this film is true. 9 is a very good film, and it features breathless, intense action from start to finish, but with moments of humor and quiet as well. In a post-apocalyptic world, the only shreds of humanity left are nine ragdoll-like creatures, whose names are numbers (in the order that they were created). 1 is the ruthless elderly leader, 2 is the inventor, 3 and 4 are mute librarians, 5 is the doctor/mechanic, 6 is the crazy artist, 7 is the fearless warrior, 8 is a Frankenstein-type creature, and 9, the final one, is our protagonist. They all try to save themselves from a mechanical beast that 9 accidentally activates. I do not wish to spoil anything else. In terms of content, this is borderline PG and PG-13. Despite the fact that there's no blood or sex, the dark atmosphere and threat throughout this film will no doubt scare some kids. Some of the ragdoll creatures have their life sucked out of them by a giant robot. Also, there are a few images of dead bodies, a severed hand (no blood, though), and war imagery. Other than that, there isn't any other offensive content. Overall, see this film if you're over 11. I also recommend the short film 9 is based on, but note that it's silent and somewhat more bleak.

A fun scary sci-fi thriller!
This was a fun movie! It may be really intense for young viewers. There was a lot of action, violence and scary images. Like for example a robot that looks like Chucky. I thought this movie was going to be junk, but I really enjoyed it. The movie was short though.

good animated thriller/action movie
Very good, great visuals. Character development lacks alittle, but overall a good action movie! Kids under 10 may get scared at some intense fight scenes, and deaths of rag-like dolls and flash scenes of dead bodies of people but you never see the peoples faces.

Really awesome :)
Awesome plot, awesome characters, though it could have been a little longer. But it's still great. I wouldn't take younger kids to see it, though. It's not too scary, but scary enough to give them a bit of a fright. Overall: One of my favorite movies.

You just have to pay attention!
I saw it and I started to get bored but then I re-watched it and liked it. Younger kids with a short attention span wont like this, but older kids will. This movie goes beyond normal times and is a mix of future and past. Taking place around WW2 It shows what would have happend if the machines had turned on us. If you buy the movie watch the special features TRUST ME you will love them even though they are ten to thirteen minutes long.

Facinating movie, but also a tad violent and sad.
9 is a really sad movie, especially towards the end. I rated it ages 9 plus because the violence level is not too bad, just some machines jump out and fight the main characters. Any kid under nine will probably be scared of the movie and think it's too depressing. It's very short, and also very very good. Anyone over nine or ten will absolutely love the stunning effects, great action, and wonderful animation in this movie. Tied with "Up", this is probably the best animation movie I've seen. I strongly reccomend you to watch "9" with your family or friends, as long as you are mature enough to handle it.

This movie was very good! It was very dark and scary, though. Just make sure your kids can stand that kind of stuff, and you'll be fine. There is one scene where one character gets "high" off a magnet, but that will fly over kid's heads.

why?
I don't get why this is a PG-13 movie. All PG-13 movies curse in it.

Tim Burton at his best....and most disturbing
My favorite Tim Burton movie. This movie makes me cry every time. No blood, but incredibly intense, nail-biting scenes that gave me nightmares. All the creatures are VERY SCARY, and characters are killed by machines. They are seen struggling, screaming, wriggling. Then their life is sucked from them in a stream of white light from eyes and mouth. In the most disturbing part, the first character killed in this gruesome way and dropped carelessly, and his gaping mouth and empty eyes are misshapen and smoking. Ugh. On a more positive note, the characters are brave, and selfless, though they do have flaws. Watch this....but put the little ones to bed first.
