A great movie. But only for people who are mature enough to handle it. There is a lot of blood, gore, and violence. There is a sex scene. There are also a few curse words. Basically this movie is definitely not for the easily offended. It does have a positive message however. It teaches those watching it that sometimes one must sacrifice everything if it means freedom.

Great film, a few boobs, some graphic violence, other than that this film is utterly terrific!

The themes are incredible, showing that main character's sense of honor is timeless and beautiful. The pervasive images of freedom goes to show all that we have is taken for granted. Be careful around the violence, and the sexual behavior, which is rather mild and not memorable, but definately inapropriate for most kids and worthy of pre-screening!

Mel Gibson's Braveheart is one of the best movies i have ever seen. This movie is about a man named william wallace (Mel Gibson) who is fighting for his and his mens freedom. They want Ireland to be left alone and be free. This movie contains lots of brutal warfare. A lot of scenes are bloody. The battle sequences last very long. there is only 1 nudity scene where it shows a women's breast for about 10 seconds. No language. Overall, this is one of the best movies i have ever seen.

An extremely epic, extremely well- done, and an extremely historically inaccurate film. A personal favorite of mine. Quite bloody (A lot like Gladiator's level of violence) but not grotesque. (Not counting the gruesome scene of torture near the end). The raping of William Wallace's wife is rather on the scary side, but CSM is over-reacting about the sex scene between Wallace & his wife. This film is great, but you might want to give your kids a history lesson before and after viewing it, for it lacks facts. Acually, you might not want to show this to your kid at all. Know your kid. Squeamish? Just don't let 'em. Otherwise a grand film production.

What an incredible masterpiece. Very violent but a moving story that will draw you in from beginning to end. Mel Gibson shines!

This movie was very well done. However, it is also overdone in the terms of violence and such, which is why it earned an R rating. I think it would have been better without all the brutal, realistic gore.

Violence is no stranger to me but I think if I saw the R-rated version of this movie I'd be fairly scarred. This movie was superb in its great revealence of William Wallace and it's frequent showings of struggles for freedom. I got the TV-14-V version thank God, my uncle saw this and said it was extremely graphic and bloody, and I thought it was graphic on television. Excellent movie, undoubtedly deserved Best Picture.

This is an excellent movie. There is smome mature content though. Violence: Tons but the dimmemberment is either quick or implied. Sex: Implied Rape, a women's breast is shown, implied sex, and a butt is shown Language: Mild terms but 2 f-words Oh and to all of you who think this takes place in Ireland please learn some history it is in Scotland

The best medieval war movie ever made in history!!! The action is realistic, the story is realistic. There is some content you need to skip, but otherwise, a must see for military war film fans.

This is an excellent medieval film. You don't see the sex and it isn't referred to either. The battle scene's are vry violent and I don't recommend parents letting children under 13 watching it.

Every teenager has seen movies with more violence and sex than this. Good grief, IT'S SCOTLAND AGAINST ENGLAND! Wallace HAS to be brutal and cold-hearted or else he would be pulverized! THIS IS HISTORY.....well the cinematic version at least.

Others have said that the sex scenes "aren't that bad". give it a rest. a sex scene, is a SEX SCENE. And actually, you could see quite a lot, which is why I couldn't even watch the rest because I had to turn it off. And apparently, the main character has sex with a woman NOT his wife, but the wife of another man. Nice role model there. Anyways, this movie had a lot of potential, and yes, I know, a lot of people love it, blah blah. But its still wrong to watch that kind of thing. Plus I have heard there is swearing in it, and some of the stuff I saw was pretty gruesome even in the beginning...but since this is Mel Gibson here...anyways, in one sentence, not a great watch, especially for kids and teens.

the tv version takes out the tiny amount of f words. if your like me and your mom would have a heart attack if she heart just one, than watch the tv version.

Amazing movie--one of my all time favorites, but extremely violent. I had to skip a few sex scenes while watching it.

This is a very good, yet very violent movie. But the Red rating in sex is pointless. They say "sex scenes" between William Wallace and his wife. There was only one, and it was NOT that bad. You should be worried about violence, not a little bit of nudity. They also say "Much ado about rape" There was NOT any rape aside from a bad guy TRYING to rape William Wallace's wife, and there wasn't any nudity there. It's the violence you should worry about.
