What Parents Need to Know
This review of Clueless was written by Sarah Wenk
Parents need to know that the movie contains some strong language, scenes of teens drinking and taking drugs, and some implied sex. There's also a lot of therapeutic shopping. It's edgy, but teens can handle it.
Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about the ways that Cher is less than honest with herself about her motivations for her "good deeds," and what different choices she might have made. Tai is also a character who is less than true to herself, and pays a price. Was what she went through worth it? Does Cher learn and grow over the course of the story? Families might also want to look at Austen's novel and see how the adaptation reflects the original.

What’s the Story?
Cher (Alicia Silverstone) just can't keep herself out of other people's business. After one successful attempt at matchmaking, Cher decides to make over and set up the new girl in school, with disastrous results. Meanwhile, her own love life is rather confused, and it isn't until she starts being honest with herself that she sees what she really wants.
Is It Any Good?
CLUELESS is loosely based on Jane Austen's Emma, and it does an excellent job of transferring the story to a contemporary context. It doesn't feel dated more than 10 years after its release -- the direction is bright and fresh, and the performances are uniformly excellent. Silverstone is particularly good, managing to be charming, ditzy, and annoying all at once, and it's clear why this movie made her a star.
This film isn't be appropriate for young children -- it does contain drinking, drug use, and implied sex -- but teens will love it. And it might even get them to read some Jane Austen.

I was surpirsed by this movie!! In a good way tho...
Haha! thios movie was pretty funny and even tho it is not meant for guys it really isn't as girly as it looks, and quite enjoyable and relatable. There is some bad stuff, but none of it could possibley offend an average person (kissing, a little language, and a little drinking but not exsesive. Role models are on/off as far as behavior goes). Best chick flick I've ever seen, and I'm really not one for chick flicks. ;) ~Ivey Zahn

Great movie, if a little inappropriate.
This is one of my favorite movies; But it does have some bad messages. There are at least two 4-letter-words tossed around in each scene, under-age teens drink at a party, a lot of talk about virginity and sex, and one character is portrayed as a junkie. This movie would be great for a mature kid, just make sure you know where the mute button is.

- Inappropriate sexual content
Great movie, but some sexual content.
I loved this movie! I watched it at age eleven with my mom and fell in love with this movie! But you should know that if you watch this movie, there's gonna be a little bit of sexual content in some of the parts of the movie. So, maybe if you feel uncomfortable with that, you should wait until you have "the talk" with your parents.

I laughed lots! Classic teen movie!
I know this isnt really my kinda movie, but i must admit, it was REALLY funny! My twin sister begged me to watch it so i caved. Some of the jokes are reasonable sexual (references to genetals being crooked, virginity and periods are about as bad as it gets) and there is quite alot of bad behavior here, but Cher herself is a sweety! The only little concern for 13 year olds is the casual drug use. Cher admits smoking weed round the clock is bad, however her and her friends still smoke some at a party... Overall GREAT movie! There's nothing in here 13 year olds cant handle.

lol lol lol lol (That's me laughing just thinking about the movie)
It is hilarious!!!! That's really all that needs to be said. Sort of explains it all. However, I even cringed and had to take a peek at my brother to see if he was able to handle it at some parts because of all of the sexual comments. Unless your kid is mature enough, I would recommend this for teens 13 +. That's about the age I saw it first.

it was good but a little questionable.
i liked this movie overall - but it did have little comments in it like when a best friend of one girl calls her a nasty name like ____ virgin. but she was basically saying that that was a bad thing. i thought that was just ridiculous. a few friends also go to a party which involves a little drug-usage. the main character's best friend makes out with her 'gangster' boyfriend in the car with her in the back seat. The main character is not very happy with herself toward the end but then gets the guy she wants, etc...
