    Hilarious

Great family movie. My son(he is 5) wants to tackle a family project like building an ark together now. Great "green" message too.

    Good family film

The rare comedy that both kids and parents will both enjoy. Great rental for families with kids of varying ages - everybody will smile.

    Boring Superficial Movie

The CommonSenseMedia review was 100% right. If you're looking for a a very light movie for young kids (<8) and can discuss this movie in terms of faith, then it's worth a rental. I think most of the "highly rated" reviews are from Christians that like "simple" answers in life. Bruce Almighty was a much much better film in that it really touched upon the human condition and that condition in relation to faith and how selfish we ALL are when it comes to our opportunity to be divine. This movie was none of that. As for comedy, shockingly there was very little. Wanda Sykes had the best lines in the movie and that was maybe 5 or so in her few scenes. It really is a G rated Sunday school type movie for young children that begs for much much deeper discussion at the dinner table or the Church.

Thanks for getting one right. This one the kids and I really enjoyed together. Even my 3 year old was laughing and got the idea of the movie.

My family and I really enjoyed this movie until Evan used a profanity. People are really ruining movies by throwing profanities in unnecessarily. This DVD didn't have language rating on the cover. Otherwise I would not have bought it.

    Great, we laughed

The movie was much better then Bruce Almighty. It was funny and it did not bring down the christian belief. I would recommended this movie to anyone with kids and watch it with them.

Funny Stevce Carrel Movie has Something for Everyone!

Steve Carrel is one of the last actors you'd expect in a kids film, but here he is and he is funny! Although he is not his crude self, he still entertains as the wacky Evan Baxter of the original, Bruce Almighty. Carrel is a governor who suddenly finds out there is going to be a second flood, and he has to save everyone. Uh oh.

FINALLY FAMILY MOVIE - GOTTA GO SEE!

I WANTED TO SEE SOMETHING LITE. I MUST SAY THAT I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH I ENJOYED THE MOVIE. WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE RATINGS WERE LOW, I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. THE PEOPLE ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. YES, IT WAS A PRETTY CLEAN MOVIE; WHICH WAS REFRESHING. ALSO, IT MADE ME THINK. YOU MUST JUDGE IT FOR YOURSELF...GO SEE IT!!! EVEN AT THE END WHEN THE CREDITS WERE ROLLING IT WAS FUNNY. IT WAS WORTH SEEING.

    Very Good

Great movie with an awesome message. As a Christian I was not offended in any way. I especially liked the "opportunity" comments. It was funny and WAY better than Bruce Almighty. I didn't really feel the need to see this as I thought it would be a cheesy "jokes aimed at God" movie but it was not at all. I have heard some comments that refer to the movie as an environmentalist movie, it wasn't in my opinion, but did point out that in our greed we have a tendency to destroy what God intended for our enjoyment. I agree with a previous review that it is a great springboard for discussion at small groups or Bible Studies.

We laughed so hard we cried...

I was not looking forward to seeing this movie because it seem stupid from the ads and I'd read reviews that skewered it. However, I have to say that I have not laughed that hard in a very very long time. Yest, the humor was silly, but the whole family (the whole audience, in fact) was laughing like mad. So, it was a lot of fun. I also liked the casting of an African American as God. See this movie with the whole family.

    Thought Provoking!

What would YOU do if God asked you to throw everything away (at least it would seem so to you) and build a gigantic boat in your yard? Could you do it? Would you? I feel the movie poses many good questions about our society and would be very useful in facilitating family discussions about family, love, obedience, materialism, etc... And, it was very entertaining!

    Great Movie, Great Message!!

This by far better than Bruce Almighty! Bruce Almighty was very funny but the message is Evan Almighty was much better. My wife and I really enjoyed this movie from start to finish. Very clean and tasteful, this will be a DVD to buy. EXCELLENT Movie, I wish there were more movies with the same wholesome message.

    Much more family-friendly

Evan Almighty isn't the comedy that Bruce Almighty was, but I was much less embarassed watching it with my 2 kids. Instead of turning into God, Evan becomes a Noah figure, instructed to build an ark. He has just been elected to Congress and with all of the corruption in D.C., the choice of following God's instructions over his own desires proves to be difficult but often very funny. The only language issue I noticed was when a child comments on the size of an animal's penis. Other than that though, this is a very family-friendly film that we enjoyed.

    A good, friendly 'green' message

Very amusing, clever take on the Noah tale. As a devout Christian, there is little to be offended here, and a lot to cheer about. Baddies are routed and there is a good pro-nature, pro-environment, pro-family message.

    It was very entertaining!

I loved this movie! We loved all the animal interaction. I love the theme of trusting in God, stick by your family and the way the brothers loved their dad.The only thing that concerned me was when the "rains" started to pour, it was quite scary and looked "end of the world" like. That was pretty vivid.

    great family movie!

Evan Almighty was a very good family movie. Provides great fodder for conversation at home (or small groups) post movie. It is fun and quick moving and virtually no cursing-jackass-as related to an animal and pissed off were the only ones-kids hear more than that on a trip to the grocery store sometimes. No sex or innuendo-and it revolves around a family and supporting each other wven when the going gets tough-something we don't see enough of these days. A must see!

This movie is a pretty funny good movie for the the whole family. The violence is mostly comical, but the flood scene could scare some younger kids. mostly this film is appropriate to kids who like family comedies or to kids who like Steve Carell and his movies.

[grade C] though different than expected, it does have some great kicks

No surprises. Not as serious. Even stupider. But attracts more kids. Though this may be junk, and the humor absolutely sucks, and we are now all mad at Steve Carrel, and wondering where the hell did he go, there are many feel good moments. Amazingly unrealistic, Evan Baxter has turned into Noah, and finally builds an ark. It is very fast paced, but it was not that good

    BRUCE Almighty

Evan Almighty is great for younger audiences, like 8-11 years old. It's not as funny as Bruce Almighty-not even close. Its humor is weak- it's ALMOST there but not quite, which is just annoying. It's kind of Noah's Ark meets Doctor Doolittle. But less funny.

Funny movie for the whole family.

Its sad that critics didn't like this movie better because of its small box office. And why, because people either wanted more inapropiet content or they couldn't handle that in this movie they don't make fun of God. Get this movie!

this is a cute way for young kids to understand the story of noah yet in a way that people would like it because the key to people liking movies is humor and violence. i think in all in all it was nice to watch.

    Evan is just alright-y

If you have a little kid, take them to this movie. If you have a teenager on your hands, let them see the first. This is a mild comedy, and I was disappointed, just like it's box office take. If the producers had not tried to make this appealing to the younger kids, and added a little more mature humor like the first, this would have been a much better movie. Now, let's just hope for there not to be a third!

    Really liked it!

Dear, people that are reading this I just saw this movie today,Jully,11, and loved it it is telling a bible story in a great way by giving out the story. Me and my karate camp saw it and thought. WOW! It is a story about a man who had been told by god to build a ark cause there was going to be a flood. The people didn't belive him. But soon of later it happened. BOOM! Gateway falls just bursted out and all the water came out! All the people started getting on the boat and looking out for the water fall wich happened then, there right in thin air,I mean like.BOOM! CASAM! POOF! Well thats all I have to say but look for other reviews by me!

    It'll cure your boredom!

Of course, this is not the type of movie that'll win an Oscar, but it's not the type of movie that'll win a Razzie. I really liked this movie. I think it's good for all children and adults - and it's a good example of a family flim. It has a bit to do with religion, but not much, and it's a bit funny in a few scenes. The acting was okay, the script was okay, but the special effects were really good. And while it's not a must-see, it'll be something good to watch when you're bored! :]
